Will Gen-Y Hitch Nomad Gooseneck Pin Box Void Lippert Frame Warranty

Updated 01/23/2026 | Published 01/22/2026

Question:

Does this Gen-Y adapter meet Lipperts requirements to maintain the frame warranty on Lippert frames that are used by nearly all Fifth Wheel trailers being produced by the industry? In other words, is it approved like the Reese Goose Box is approved?

Hey John! The Gen-Y Hitch Nomad 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box # GY37ND is not Lippert approved yet. This is designed to replace a pin box with a Lippert Rhino bolt pattern, and is the same exact length as the factory pin box.

Gen-Y does stand behind their product, and if a pin box caused frame failure they will take responsibility. They have also pointed out that under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act the warranty can't legally be voided unless it is proven that the pin box was the direct cause of failure.

Ultimately it is up to you if you want to install it and fight that battle if something happens. It is also worth noting that your typical frame warranty is only a year so if you're past that point it really doesn't matter. If you decide to go with the Nomad you will also need to pick up some safety chains # GY49GR.

What kind of 5th wheel are you towing?

Thank you for the response. I asked the question because I was unsure whether Lippert had approved this pinbox for use on their frames. The response does have an incorrect statement. You stated, "It is also worth noting that your typical frame warranty is only a year so if you're past that point it really doesn't matter." All Keystone trailers, since September 2018, are covered by a "one year all inclusive warranty and a three year structural warranty". That structural warranty includes the steel frame, outriggers, and cross members (the Lippert frame). While risking that warranty might be acceptable for some, not everyone is willing to, as you say, "fight that battle if something happens"... Thanks for the info from GEN Y. It's good to know that they stand behind their products. But just as Andersen has their hitch warranty to cover their products, it seems that neither has been "approved by Lippert" in the same manner as the Reese Goosebox. With the "buy in cost" of many new fifth wheel from nearly any RV manufacturer these days being well above $100,000, having to "fight the battle if something happens" has to be a consideration for most RV owners. It's important to know all the facts when making any decision, especially one with that large of a monetary risk.

@JohnH thanks for sharing, and that is exactly why I said your typical frame warranty. I don't have a way of knowing what trailer you have unless you tell me. Keystone is pretty big, but not big enough to assume that is what we're likely talking about. Some manufacturers offer an extended frame warranty for an additional cost as well. There are a lot of trailer manufacturers out there that do a lot of different things. If you want an approved Reese Goosebox you better act fast. The brand is for sale, again, and if it is anything like the last time we may not see the Goosebox for another year or more once they're out of stock.
