Fifth Wheel Hitch Combinations for Ram Trucks with RamBox (2009-Current)

Problem: Not all combinations of fifth wheel hitch components will work with 2009 to current Ram trucks that have the RamBox feature.

Solution: The following recommendations should be followed to ensure the safest towing experience with trucks that have this feature:

A Sidewinder should be used on the trailer.

• Helps prevent pin box from contacting the sides of the RamBox
• Increases truck cab-to-trailer clearance in a turn

The following fifth wheel hitches are recommended:

• Reese Titan fifth wheel hitches: RP30866 or RP30867
• Reese fifth wheel hitches: RP30081, RP30871, RP30143, RP30142 can be used if:
  • They are adjusted to the highest position
  • They are hooked up and unhooked on level ground
  • Parts 30871, 30143, and 30142 must use Elite mounting kit
• Rails and Installation Kits
  • Outboard bed rails
    • Part number 56xxx truck specific mounting kit with RP30153 rails
  • Inboard bed rails
    • Part number 50xxx truck specific mounting kit with RP58058 rails
  • Elite underbed mounting kits
    • These mounting kits are recommended: RP30074 or RP30852

Keep in mind the following when towing with a Ram that has the RamBox feature:

• Manual sliders are not recommended
• Not all combinations of tow vehicles and trailers will allow 90-degree turns
• All directions for pin box, hitch, and mounting rail kit installation and use should be followed
