Question:

Thor 2016 Freedom Elite. Side entry door. What material is the door latch itself made of? Is it cheap pot metal or steel? I ask because all replacements I have ordered, break inside of three months. Thanks.

Hey Dave. The T5079 RV Designer Entrance Door Lock item # RD68SR is made of a die-cast zinc alloy for the housing and handles. The strike plate, plunger load pins and plunger end plates are made of steel. The parts are then black powder coated and copper-nickel-chrome plated for durability.

The T5079 RV Designer Entrance Door Lock item # RD68SR is designed specifically to replace a TriMark 060-1650 lock. It fits doors that are 1.39" to 1.70" thick and is designed to fit a standard cutout of 4.95" wide by 4.85" tall.

What kind of lock do you currently have and who all's using it? Just curious if you've got kids going in and out or the door keeps getting slammed.

Hey Jarred., Thanks for letting me know. It's what originally came with the Thor. Cheapest pot metal you can get. No kids and we do not slam the door. Close it and slowly push it shut. Sometimes lifting the handle, then close. A bit pricey on the lock. We are deciding to trade in. Will decide which direction to go. Thanks, dave
