The dual interlocking jaws wrap fully around the king pin for complete 360-degree contact. That tight grip means less rattle and a more stable ride compared to slide-bar hitches. You’ll notice the difference right away—smooth engagement, less movement, and a quieter tow that feels locked-in even over rough roads.
The three-point indicator system uses easy-to-see colors to show what’s happening with the jaws—red for uncoupled, yellow for ready to couple, and green for locked in and ready to tow. You can check it quickly from the side of the truck without guessing or crawling into the bed. After you uncouple, the handle resets on its own so you’re ready to hitch back up next time.
For slow-speed turns where space gets tight, the S25 slider gives you up to 12" of fore/aft travel to keep the trailer clear of the cab. It moves smoothly in both directions and latches automatically once positioned, so you only need to leave the cab once. That extra clearance helps make backing into sites or maneuvering in tight spots much less stressful.
When you need your bed clear, a single pin is all it takes to lift off the head by yourself. The hitch mounts on standard above-bed rails, making both installation and removal straightforward. Two built-in zerk fittings simplify lubrication, while the included plastic lube plate keeps coupling smooth every time you hook up.

Today we're going to take a look at the Curt Universal 5th Wheel Base Rails with the installation kit in a carbide black finish. These base rails will provide a solid mounting point for your 5th wheel hitch. The universal L-shape brackets here will fit nearly any application. They are semi-custom brackets that can be used to ease installation on certain vehicles. All the parts are protected by a highly durable carbide powder coat finish. They are inaudible 00:00:24 in a rust resistant liquid bonderite coating. Now, this part is compatible with most 5th wheel hitches, rollers and goose neck adapters by Curt, Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch, Reese, Valley, and Husky.
Complete kit includes everything shown here, the two base rails themselves, the 4 L-shaped universal brackets, all the mounting hardware, and a nice set of detailed instructions on how to install everything. One-year update: weve now put over five thousnad miles on our eleven-thousand pound fiver, and have had zero issues with the hitch. thats with numerous hitch-unhitch cycles, and a few long, steep grades to pull. The hitch works just as well as the day we installed it. The only shortcoming is its shear weight when lifting it out of the bed. Fortunately, the hitch proper lifts out of the spider mount by simply pulling one pin. That way, it can be removed in two pieces. Its still a two-person job, but is manageable.
