There are 5th wheel hitches available for your truck, but the OEM trailer hitches for are designed to fit the factory puck system of the newer Ram trucks, so they won't work in a 2006 Dodge Ram 3500 short bed.
The Ram OEM 5th wheel hitches are made by Curt, so if you like them you can add the same type of brand/model, but will need to add base rails to your truck. What you can use is the following:
- Curt E16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with Slider # 16516
- Curt Semi-Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit for Dodge Ram 2500/3500 # C16301-200
- Curt 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Custom Wiring Harness # C56001
