Built from sturdy steel with a durable carbide powder coat finish, this hitch is made for serious towing. It’s rated for 25,000 lbs gross towing weight and a 6,250 lbs vertical load limit, giving you solid control over large fifth-wheel campers or toy haulers. The heavy-duty construction keeps your setup steady even on long hauls, while the finish helps it hold up to the elements for the long run.
The rounded, interlocking 2-jaw system wraps completely around the trailer’s king pin to give you 360-degree contact. That design cuts down on rattle and movement compared to slide-bar models, so your ride feels quieter and more stable. It also helps with smoother hookup since the jaws self-align for easy connection and provide a secure, locked-in fit that stays put mile after mile.

No guessing if it’s ready to tow or uncouple—the color-coded indicator tells you exactly what the jaws are doing. Red means uncoupled, yellow means ready to couple, and green means locked for towing. The indicators are visible from the cab or beside the truck bed, giving you peace of mind before you hit the road.
The torsion head design flexes as you drive so it can absorb road shock and help reduce towing noise. That cushioning effect keeps your truck and trailer working together smoothly over uneven roads or when cornering. You’ll notice less bounce and a steadier feel behind the wheel on long trips.
When it’s time to use the bed for something else, this hitch comes apart quickly without tools. Pull one pin to lift off the head—it’s designed so one person can handle removal. The hitch weighs 158 lbs total, but being able to separate it makes storage easier when you’re not towing.
This fifth-wheel hitch is compatible with rotating pin boxes, such as the Reese Sidewinder, Reese Revolution, and 5th Airborne Sidewinder, only when used with a wedge (sold separately).

Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the CURT Universal Carbide Black Finish Fifth Wheel Base Rails. Now, these base rails will install in your truck bed. And they provide the necessary attachment points for your fifth wheel hitch installation. Now, when these rails are used with the CURT's Custom Mounting Brackets, which we sell separate on a website, these rails will cut in half the time it takes to install your fifth wheel trailer hitch.
We mentioned the finish on this. I'm gonna zoom in and sort of show it. It's a carbide black finish, sort of like a matte black finish, so it matches the finish if you use it on the CURT Q5 20K Fifth Wheel Hitch. Now, these rails are universal, so they will work with the following fifth wheel hitches. They work with the CURT brand, the Draw-Tite, the Hidden Hitch, the Reese, and even the Husky.
This part here will include the two base rails. Now, we mentioned the mounting brackets, the custom mounting brackets, the hardware, and an installation kit is all sold separately. The length on these rails, if we put a tape measure on them from one end to the other, right at 43 inches long. But that should do it for the review on the CURT Universal Carbide Black Finish Fifth Wheel Base Rails.
