Question:
I am looking at the Curt A16 and Reese RP30047 for my 2018 Ram 3500. I have an 8 foot bed. Will either of these fit standard base rails? What rail kit would I need? Can you compare the two hitches?

The Curt A16 # C16120 and Reese # RP30047 are both quality fifth wheel hitches that have a 16,000 lb capacity and dual jaw system but there are a couple of noticeable differences.
The Curt A16 has a fully articulating head while the Reese has a head which only pivots 4 ways. The A16 also has a handy indicator system which will let you know if the jaws on the hitch are ready to couple, uncouple or tow, which is a convenience feature the Reese hitch does not offer.
The Curt A16 # C16120 also adjusts 4" in height, from 13" to 17" while the Reese # RP30047 adjusts 3-1/2" in height, from 14-1/2" to 18" so it may be the better option if you need that extra inch to tow your fifth wheel level.
Both hitches will fit your 2018 Ram 3500 and the installation kit and rails I recommend are the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit # C16430-204. These rails are a custom fit for your '18 Ram 3500 and will not require any drilling into your truck's frame to install the brackets.
I have added links to video reviews of both fifth wheel hitches and the installation kit for you to check out.
