This hitch is rated for 25,000 lbs gross towing weight and a 6,250 lbs vertical load limit, so it’s made to handle big 5th wheels without flex or rattle. The sturdy steel construction and carbide powder coat finish give it the solid feel you want when pulling heavy trailers on long hauls. It’s the kind of setup that stays steady on the road and keeps you comfortable mile after mile.
The interlocking two-piece jaw completely wraps around the trailer’s king pin for full 360-degree contact. That design cuts out the loose play that causes chucking and noise. Instead of a clunky slide-bar latch, you get a tight, quiet fit that feels locked in. It adds both confidence and peace of mind when you’re hitting the highway with a heavy load behind you.

With Curt’s easy-to-see color coding, you can tell at a glance whether the hitch is ready to uncouple (red), couple (yellow), or tow (green). The indicator is visible on both the handle and the hitch body, so there’s no guesswork or climbing into the bed to check. And once you disconnect, the system resets itself to the ready-to-couple position automatically.
The torsion head design lets the hitch move naturally with the trailer as you drive, taking up road shock for a smoother ride. It self-aligns for easier hookup and keeps things quiet over bumps. The built-in zerk fittings make lubrication simple, so it stays operating smoothly season after season.
When it’s time to clear out your bed space, this hitch is simple to break down. Pull a single pin and lift off the head—no tools required. It’s manageable enough for one person to remove, making it easy to switch between towing mode and full bed use without extra hassle.
This fifth-wheel hitch is compatible with rotating pin boxes, such as the Reese Sidewinder, Reese Revolution, and 5th Airborne Sidewinder, only when used with a wedge (sold separately).

Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the CURT Universal Carbide Black Finish Fifth Wheel Base Rails. Now, these base rails will install in your truck bed. And they provide the necessary attachment points for your fifth wheel hitch installation. Now, when these rails are used with the CURT's Custom Mounting Brackets, which we sell separate on a website, these rails will cut in half the time it takes to install your fifth wheel trailer hitch.
We mentioned the finish on this. I'm gonna zoom in and sort of show it. It's a carbide black finish, sort of like a matte black finish, so it matches the finish if you use it on the CURT Q5 20K Fifth Wheel Hitch. Now, these rails are universal, so they will work with the following fifth wheel hitches. They work with the CURT brand, the Draw-Tite, the Hidden Hitch, the Reese, and even the Husky.
This part here will include the two base rails. Now, we mentioned the mounting brackets, the custom mounting brackets, the hardware, and an installation kit is all sold separately. The length on these rails, if we put a tape measure on them from one end to the other, right at 43 inches long. But that should do it for the review on the CURT Universal Carbide Black Finish Fifth Wheel Base Rails.
