Some 2012 Ford E series vans will have a factory plug and some will not. If your van came with a factory trailer connector then the wiring is already there and active. But if it did not come from the factory with a trailer connector, the factory wiring may be there but it is probably not active.
In that case you will need a harness that plugs in line with the van tail light wiring, # C56020, or # 118551. The Curt harness is a non-powered harness while the Tow Ready harness requires a connection to the battery to power the trailer lights. The connection to the battery further isolates the trailer wiring from the vehicle wiring. I have included links to the instructions for each harness and links to videos showing installation for each harness.
