Can Timbren Axle Less System Replace Dexter Torflex 4,000 lb Axles on Trailer
Question:
Just badly bent the passenger side of the front Dexter 4000 lb torsion axle. The production time for a replacement is in the range of 6-8 weeks, plus time at the dealer to have it replaced. I wore out an almost new tire, blew out a spare, then used up two more new tires getting home from Shenandoah to central Texas. The bend was causing a HUGE negative camber. The original impact also caused one of the axle bracket welds to break! Some of our Interstate Highways need a bit of maintenance! Since the delay is so long, Im considering replacing both axles with something else, hopefully rated a little higher capacity, as the current axles DEPEND on the 10-15 hitch weight to carry the rated capacity of roughly 8600 lns. Is it likely that this product could be used to replace the existing Dexter 10F axles? The replacement Dexter has to have the exact dimensions as the original which is apparently the issue with the delay. When I called, etrailer.com did not have the specific size needed available. The axle-less feature seems to make a much easier solution, though I would still want to use the 2x3inch crossbar between the Tibren suspension units. My trailer is considered an Ultralight so doesnt have a heavy frame. Id also want to be able to move the existing brakes and hubs, since I just replaced brakes last fall. I have close to 50,000 miles on the trailer and would like to add another 50,000 at least. The trailer itself is a 2015 Rockwood Windjammer 3001W. The axles I need to replace are the Dexter Torflex 10F. Details on the attached image.

The Timbren Axle Less system would be a great choice to get you back on the road quickly. The 5,200 lb capacity axles like the part # TASR5200S03 you referenced would be the best option for your 4,000 lb axle setup as it's the closest capacity to it that's higher. Every other option we have is actually lower. This kit has a 4 inch lift built into it as well which is typically the amount needed when replacing a Torflex like yours.
The only thing is you'll need new hub/drums and brake assemblies as the parts you have now won't fit a 5,200 lb axle. For hubs you'd need the # 8-201-5UC3-EZ which have a 6 on 5-1/2 inch bolt pattern and then for brake assemblies # AKEBRK-7-SA and you'd be set with everything you'd need.
