So far the trans cooler has been working well. I also used the adapters. Both products are doing well after 1500 miles or so and many hills, mountains, and trailering.

100 happy with the trans cooler and adapter set. Temp stays nice and cool. Puts me at ease when towing my trailer.

by:

Great cooler upgrade for my 1997 GMC Yukon! Little delivery damage, but was so easy to bend those fins back to original shape so no worries!
Nice that you had proper dimension measurements online, so it was easy to figure out what kind I can fit in my truck. Complete kit had everything I needed to get it done!
Modified old cooler bracket little bit and that was it. Works great!

by:

Will make the installation of the trans cooler easier

by:

A must have .just wish I had got my trans cooler from etrailer they are a great company .so if you gonna put a trans cooler own you GM truck take my word for it you best go to trailer! Won't be sorry, thanks

by:

Have I gotten my refund for trans cooler fittings that weren't needed? 1994 k1500 trans cooler is working great.

by:

Very handy for unique installations fo transmission coolers

by:

It looks like from reading the matierl if one is using the cooler in series with the factory cooler this adapter is not needed.
Thus I would like to return, but I fear the shipping cost will not make sense, dollar wise...

Thus the recommendation should state if you are adding a cooler to your system where one does not already exist, then you'll need this adapter.

So if your adding to an already existing system, you do not need the adapter.

by:

Worked out great for installing the extra trans cooler.

by:

Pro help online to order. Trans cooler shipped right away.

by:

Exact fit for my 2000 Chevy Silverado. What a time saver. I am glad that etrailer suggested these.

by:

The adapter fitting did not fit my 2008 GMC Sierra 1500 w/ 5.3 liter engine and factory trailer package.

by:

These fittings made connecting the hoses to the steel transmission lines very easy - glad I bought them! I recommend getting them.

by:

I purchased these fittings thinking these would fit my GM product. NOT.......These are 3/8 and looks like the fit the truck series only as stated on the package. Be aware

by:

Great buying experience, will definitely be a go to company for future purchases

  • Transmission Cooler to Correct Transmission Overheating Problems in 2002 Chevy Silverado 1500 6.0 V8
The best option for your 2002 Chevy Silverado with the 6.0L V8 engine is a plate fin cooler like the Derale # D13504. The plate fin style cooler helps dissipate heat better than a tube fin style and this is the largest cooler that is going to fit in your vehicle. These are relatively easy to install and will help cool down the transmission by using the air intake from the front of the truck. You will need to add the Derale Radiator Adapter Fitting # D13018 for this to be compatible with...

The fittings needed to install the Derale Transmission Cooler, part # D13504 on your 2002 GMC Sierra 1500 with the 5.3L engine are part # D13018. These are 5/8 inch inverted flare fittings designed to work specifically for your Sierra radiator, and require no cutting or flaring lines.

  • Recommended Transmission Cooler For 1999 Chevy Silverado
For your 1999 Chevy Silverado, I recommend the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit # D13503. This cooler has turbulators inside the tubes to move the fluid and give you superior heat transfer. This will help with the longevity of the transmission as well as helping it function better and is designed specifically for the electronic overdrive transmissions. You will also want the Derale Radiator Adapter Fittings for GM # D13018 so you can add the cooler without the hassle...

  • Is Additional Transmission Cooler Needed On 2004 GMC Sierra When Towing A Long Distance
If you have a transmission cooler already installed on your 2004 GMC Sierra 1500, it may be enough to handle the long journey you said you are planning on taking. My first recommendation would be to install temperature gauges for your oil and also for the transmission fluid. Then hook your trailer up and drive it to find out exactly how it is doing. I recommend the Derale Temperature Gauge, part # D13009. I would recommend one for the oil temp and one for the transmission oil temp. If...

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 2007 Chevy Silverado, 4.3L, V6
The most popular transmission cooler for a 2007 Chevy Silverado (New or Classic) with the 4.3 liter is cooler # D13503. This cooler measures 11 inches wide, 8-3/4 inches tall, and 7/8 inches deep. It is rated as a Class III which is what is recommended for vehicles with Class III trailer hitches. Metal lines are not an option but you could replace the rubber hose with metal lines obtained locally. However metal dissipates heat more quickly and easily than rubber so it might end up working...

  • Preventing Leaks When Installing Derale # 15718 Engine Oil Filter Relocation Kit
I spoke with my contact at Derale and they provided some very useful information. They said you do not want to use a liquid sealant of any type because it acts as a lubricant when first applied and would actually allow you to over tighten the fittings causing leaks. They suggest using a thread tape and tightening to approximately 8 to 10 ft lbs. Although the suggestion to hand tighten and then turn an additional 1/4 turn may work, the term hand tighten would be different for everyone.

  • Recommended Transmission Cooler For 2007 Chevrolet 3500 Express Van
The transmission cooler I recommend for your 2007 Chevrolet Express is the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler, part # D13503. This is a Class lll cooler and will work great with your Express. You will also need the radiator adapter fittings, part # D13018. The first thing you would need to consider is the size of the cooler. Generally, the bigger the cooler the better. The next thing to check out is the mounting location. I have attached a drawing of the best mounting locations...

  • Transmission Cooler for Towing 5300 lb Trailer in the Mountains for 2007 Chevy Silverado 5.3L
Since you will be towing in the mountains, which is hard on a transmission, I would recommend getting the largest, highest rated transmission cooler that will fit your vehicle. You cannot over cool a transmission. The ideal install location would be in front of the radiator and A/C condenser, right behind the grille. The # D13102 you mentioned will provide some cooling, but due to the fact that you will be towing up and down mountains, it would be too small for your needs. The largest...

I spoke to my contact at Derale about adding a transmission cooler to your 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 with the 6.2L V8 engine and they informed me that there should be no problem using one so long as you install it after the factory transmission cooler. To determine what kind of transmission cooler you will need depends on how much weight you will be towing and where you will be towing. Also, you will also want to measure the area in front of the AC condenser to see what size cooler will fit on your 2007 Chevy. This is the weight of the trailer, including the load in the trailer. This will help...

This will allow you to get more power to make towing easier on your Silverado and will also allow you to more accurately monitor temperatures on your engine and transmission.
