Question:

Trying to figure out a hitch for my truck. I have a 2007 Silverado 2500 HD. It has: a step on bumper, 8foot bed, Classic body style, its an LT. Im looking to pull an 18foot trailer. The weights are: 3,100 trailer, 6,500 skid steer and about 1,000 for the grapple bucket. I dont want a hitch that sits low like the ones for the 10inch bumper, just want one that sits just below the bumper. I looked at Curt hitches and it looks like #15312 will fit, but Im not sure about the bumper. Im not locked into any single brand. Thanks for your help.

I spoke to my contact at Curt about your 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD Classic.

They told me the Curt Class V hitch, part # C15312 is designed to fit your truck if it has the factory cutout bumper. They told me that the cutout is the recessed area on the bumper where the license plate typically goes. this hitch has a 2 inch receiver opening.

This hitch should sit right below the bumper and would be just what you are looking for.

If you need a ball mount for the hitch I recommend part # BWBMHD30010. This ball mount features a 1 inch rise or 2 inch drop and uses a hitch ball with a 1-1/4 inch shank like the 2 inch diameter ball part # A-90.

If you need a 2-5/16 inch diameter ball I recommend part # 19286. If you need an adjustable ball mount you might want to check out the attached link I have provided that lists the adjustable ball mounts we have available for 2 inch receivers.
