How much play or slop is in this mount compared to the rapid hitch and to and stow hitches?

The EZ Heavy Duty Adjustable Hitch with Combo Ball # AM3298 is comparable to the other ball mounts that you have mentioned. Any ball mount or shank on an accessory is made with a certain amount of tolerance in the size of the shank. The differences are so small you probably would not be able to tell the difference.
Shanks are made smaller than the receiver opening so that it is easy to insert and remove the accessory. The movement can be limited or in some cases eliminated using an anti rattle device such as # RHSB, or # BX88224.
