inverter

This 12V inverter, with built-in transfer switch, changes DC output from your RV batteries into AC power and sends it to the electrical system. Using pure sine wave technology, it creates clean power with low distortion, making it safe, efficient, and perfect for sensitive electronics like computers. The inverter can generate 4,000 starting watts and 2,000 running watts which is a great fit for appliances and electronics. Additionally, with the integrated transfer switch, it will automatically change from inverter to shore power when available.

Functions and Features

To connect your AC loads, the inverter includes hardwired input and output terminals. It also has positive and negative DC terminals that connect to your batteries. Lastly, there is a port for the included fixed-mount remote. The system includes a number of safety features. It has a reverse polarity protection that will protect the converter if the battery is hooked up incorrectly. Additionally, the unit includes protection for overvoltage, undervoltage, and overloading which can damage your equipment, as well as the converter. The built-in cooling fan also removes excess heat from the unit. The fan speed is proportional to the internal temperature on the converter, so when the power demand is low, the fan will operate quietly. For additional safety, installing a 250-amp fuse (sold separately) between the battery bank and the inverter will protect your equipment from power surges.

Built-In Transfer Switch Automatically Switches to Shore Power

The integrated transfer switch selects the primary source of 120V AC current. This switch has been pre-wired to automatically change from inverter to shore power to conserve battery life. It includes a 20-amp leg rated at 135V. Additionally, since the switch only accepts one active source, it protects your electrical system from dangerous backfeed that can damage your equipment.

Fixed-Mount Remote Provides Easy Monitoring and Control

inverter remote

The fixed-mount remote lets you monitor and control the inverter from inside your RV. It includes a digital display that shows voltage, output power, error codes, and a low battery indicator. It also has a power button to turn the inverter on and off.

How It Installs

The inverter mounts inside your RV in a dry location with ventilation. It should be installed close to the battery bank, but not in the same compartment.

inverter terminals

The DC terminals are wired to the battery bank.

There are several ways to connect the inverter to your RV's electrical system, but this will depend on your rig and how you want to use your inverter. If your RV's distribution panel only has one leg, a subpanel will be needed for installation. You will also need a 100-amp circuit breaker between the inverter and battery positive post. Two 20-amp circuit breakers will be needed to channel AC power from the main panel into the inverter and then out into the subpanel.

  • Why You Shouldn't Loop Your Inverter to Your Converter
Hello Anthony, I get what you are trying to do, but it's not a good idea, here is a couple of reasons why: -By creating this loop you will drain your battery too quickly. The converter charges the battery by taking AC power (shore power) and converting it to DC power, then the inverter will take the DC battery power and it turns it into AC power so it can power your appliances, if you loop it then you are using your battery power to power your converter just to send some power back to...

  • 2000 Watt Inverter for 2024 Brinkley Z3400
Hey Tom, yeah a 2,000 watt inverter like the Progressive Dynamics part # PD64FR would be a really great option for your 2024 Brinkley Z3400. Your camper is prewired for an inverter like this so all you need is PD64FR and you'd have everything you'd need to install it.

  • Looking for a Converter and Inverter to Replace my 45 Amp Panel in My Motorhome
Hello Daniel, Happy to get you into the right converter and inverter for your lithium batteries. I see that you were looking at a stand alone charger, so that is the set-up I am going to go with. If you have a smaller battery bank (less than 200Ah) and need a compact, efficient lithium-compatible charger, the Go Power! # 34266167 (35A) is a great choice. It offers 3-stage smart charging, a quieter fan, and automatic lithium support, making it easy to use. However, its lower 35A output...

  • Availability of Pass Through Inverter for RV Solar Panel Setup
Hey Pat, the GO Power inverter you referenced does not have pass through function as it only has a single set of DC inputs and AC outputs that are outlet. Instead for a similar inverter that has the pass through/transfer switch capabilities you'd want the Progressive Dynamics part # PD64FR.

  • Availability of Small Inverter for AC Light in Trailer
Hey Keith! I wish I had the good news you were looking forward to but that isn't the case here. Honestly, I would give up on the light you have now and switch to a light that runs off of 12V power. There are no tiny inverters you can install for a single fixture like this to convert from DC to AC. You can add an inverter like the Progressive Dynamics 2000 Watt Inverter w/ Transfer Switch # PD64FR but you're still going to have to do some rewiring. You can also rewire the light to run...

  • Inverter Recommendation for Running a Single AC Unit
Hey Michael, thanks for reaching out! I recommend using the Progressive Dynamics 2000 Watt Inverter w/ Transfer Switch # PD64FR, but only if you'll be running a single AC unit and nothing else with AC power. According to my research this 2,000 Watt inverter will be able to handle up to a 15K Btu AC unit but that will be pushing the limits which is why you can only run the AC unit.

  • Should Transfer Switch be Replaced at Same Time as Upgraded Converter on RV
Hey Jean, so it really depends on the rating of your current transfer switch if you should replace it with the part # PD64FR at same time as when you install the converter part # PD9280A. The new converter is rated for up to 1,300 watts so your current transfer switch would need to be rated for at least that to get full advantage of the new converter. If not, then it would be a good idea also go with the new switch part # PD64FR which is rated for 2,000 watts.

  • Solar Panel Kit and Inverter/Transfer Switch for Jayco 38-FBRK
Hey Randy, we do have an inverter that has a transfer switch built into it with the Progressive Dynamics part # PD64FR. This will switch between power sources like you are needing. For picking out a solar setup it's also important to know how big your battery is but the 800 watt Go Power AE-4 part # 342-75010 is a really solid option that can put out 800 watts of solar power. I attached a couple links to this page that cover determining exactly how much solar power you might need as...

  • Inverter for Use with Go Power 200 Watt Solar Panel Kit 34282181
Hey Tanya, since the max output of the Go Power Solar panel kit part # 34282181 that you referenced is 200 watts you could use the 200 watt Go Power inverter part # 34282690. Or for something with a 2000 watt output and a built in transfer switch we have the Progressive Dynamics part # PD64FR. It would come down to what you are planning on running off AC power from the battery but either way going with more of an inverter than needed wouldn't hurt anything.

  • In What Orientation Can the Progressive Dynamics Transfer Switch part # PD64FR Mount
Hey Dale, we really have to stick with recommending mounting the Progressive Dynamics Transfer Switch part # PD64FR in the ways that you mentioned which are outlined in the instructions. They do recommend putting a shield over the fans if you want to have them mounted in the vertical orientation so that would be a smart call that avoids the issue of debris falling in the fans.
