inverter

This 12V inverter, with built-in transfer switch, changes DC output from your RV batteries into AC power and sends it to the electrical system. Using pure sine wave technology, it creates clean power with low distortion, making it safe, efficient, and perfect for sensitive electronics like computers. The inverter can generate 4,000 starting watts and 2,000 running watts which is a great fit for appliances and electronics. Additionally, with the integrated transfer switch, it will automatically change from inverter to shore power when available.

Functions and Features

To connect your AC loads, the inverter includes hardwired input and output terminals. It also has positive and negative DC terminals that connect to your batteries. Lastly, there is a port for the included fixed-mount remote. The system includes a number of safety features. It has a reverse polarity protection that will protect the converter if the battery is hooked up incorrectly. Additionally, the unit includes protection for overvoltage, undervoltage, and overloading which can damage your equipment, as well as the converter. The built-in cooling fan also removes excess heat from the unit. The fan speed is proportional to the internal temperature on the converter, so when the power demand is low, the fan will operate quietly. For additional safety, installing a 250-amp fuse (sold separately) between the battery bank and the inverter will protect your equipment from power surges.

Built-In Transfer Switch Automatically Switches to Shore Power

The integrated transfer switch selects the primary source of 120V AC current. This switch has been pre-wired to automatically change from inverter to shore power to conserve battery life. It includes a 20-amp leg rated at 135V. Additionally, since the switch only accepts one active source, it protects your electrical system from dangerous backfeed that can damage your equipment.

Fixed-Mount Remote Provides Easy Monitoring and Control

inverter remote

The fixed-mount remote lets you monitor and control the inverter from inside your RV. It includes a digital display that shows voltage, output power, error codes, and a low battery indicator. It also has a power button to turn the inverter on and off.

How It Installs

The inverter mounts inside your RV in a dry location with ventilation. It should be installed close to the battery bank, but not in the same compartment.

inverter terminals

The DC terminals are wired to the battery bank.

There are several ways to connect the inverter to your RV's electrical system, but this will depend on your rig and how you want to use your inverter. If your RV's distribution panel only has one leg, a subpanel will be needed for installation. You will also need a 100-amp circuit breaker between the inverter and battery positive post. Two 20-amp circuit breakers will be needed to channel AC power from the main panel into the inverter and then out into the subpanel.

2,000-Watt inverter lets you use appliances and devices wherever the road takes you. Pure sine wave technology is perfect for sensitive electronics like HDTVs and computers.

by:

This inverter works great on our airstream. It runs everything flawlessly (not a/c) in our rig. Instapot, coffee maker, connection/microwave oven, TV's,etc. Handles surge well. Automatic transfer switch is a great feature. Highly recommend.

by:

I am in process of installing this on my personal RV, but I'm impressed by the specification and functionality. The transfer switch on the inverter makes this extremely simple to incorporate into the electrical system and makes the operation even easier. There is huge value having less components to deal with, and when adding items like this to an RV, space can be limited. So, this helps to keep a smaller equipment footprint.

by:

Great product exactly what I needed

by:

Install was straight forward and it seems to work as advertised in initial testing.

by:

This has made huge difference when dry camping with our rv. I added solar panels and three 100 amp hr batteries along with this inverter. Coffee, microwave, and yes the wife's blow dryer works flawlessly. No need to put my boots on and go start the generator.
I don't have the AC wired to operate off the inverter, nor would it work.
All positive feed back from me.
What I know now;
1) It can't be mounted near flammable fuel tanks.
2) You must use correct size wire with proper connections.
3) Mount the unit as close as possible to the batteries because the battery cable (200 amps) are more expensive than the line voltage wire (15 amps).
4) The remote panel comes with a long cord to mount inside anywhere.

by:

website says it can handle load of ac units very over rated on power numbers

I am very sorry to hear that the inverter is not working as expected. What kind of batteries are you using, and what is the model of you AC? I would like to dig a little deeper on why this is, because this usually is not the case.

This inverter is very easy to install and works well. etrailer went out of their way to get it to me. Thank you etrailer!

by:

Replacement easy install. Thanks for the expediated order.

by:

Etrailer is the best.

by:

So far so good. Instructions were good and easy to follow Will be trying it out in a couple of days

by:

Shipping box could be improved, but product was ok. will update after I have a chance to install.

by:

I bought this and never installed it. I asked trailer if I could ship it back for store credit or even half credit and they said it was outside the return window. It is sitting in my storage unit and I have never used it!

by:

Best upgrade to our camper yet. It’s so nice to stop at a rest area and warm up a meal without using the generator. It’s powerful enough to run our microwave, my wife can even use her hair dryer when boondocking.

by:

Works very well! I was surprised that for 2000 watts and built in transfer switch handles my RV microwave with zero issues. I have loaded it up the the max amperage that my batteries will deliver before the batteries shutdown still maintaining 12 volts.

by:

The inverter was delivered quickly and looks like a great product. Still designing and assembling my battery upgrades and inverter system so I can’t comment much more. One of the reviews I read stated minor damage upon receipt which I did have. The cardboard support in the box is better than using styrofoam but doesn’t seem to be stout enough to support the weight of the inverter if the box takes a tumble during shipping. Thank you etrailer.

Hey Mark. I'd love to hear how the upgrade goes once you're you done!

by:

Box was delivered a little beat up but item inside was not damaged.

by:

I purchased the 200 w inverter and purchased a brand new inch pound torque wrench and it tells me to torque them down to 200 inch pounds. The positive went on just fine and the negative one snapped! I am so angry right now! Do I tear all this apart? Return this one?

by:

It took about 3 hours to install with help from a friend. It is all installed and working just as advertised. I think it will add a plus to my 5th wheel.I installed it in the pass through with plenty of ventilation.

by:

Works well, an improvement on the other brand in my former trailer which had "sticky" control buttons. Use it to run an instant pot and an immersion blender when boondocking.

Still works as designed

by:

Really good quality and easy to install. So far it has worked perfect.

by:

Inverter is working very well, did have some damage on corner of unit , the packaging from progressive dynamic, really needs to be much better,

by:

Great product, and great service, but I thought when you ordered it and paid for two days shipping, it ment two days, not three!

by:

Only negitive so far is the spacing between 120vac in/out and side of unit, not really enough room for romex conector in there, i made it work with a knockout bushing and cable clamps close by on the outside. Have not used the romote yet, will update on that if it has an issue.

by:

Easy install and works great. Remote on/off is perfect for battery conservation.

by:

My initial inverter failed with an E-5 error code that could not be reset. I contacted Progressive Dynamics and submitted a warranty claim. They processed it within a day and had a replacement in the mail. So far so good with the replacement.

  • Will Progressive Dynamics 2000 Watt Inverter Prioritize Battery Power Over Shore Power
Hey Greg, welcome back! The Progressive Dynamics 2000 Watt Inverter w/ Transfer Switch # PD64FR prioritizes shore power over battery power. When shore power is detected at the AC input port the transfer switch will automatically disconnect the inverter output to save your battery life. You can expect a slight delay since that is built in to make sure the incoming power stabilizes before transferring but it will switch over without you having to do anything. • Why You Shouldn't Loop Your Inverter to Your Converter
Hello Anthony, I get what you are trying to do, but it's not a good idea, here is a couple of reasons why: -By creating this loop you will drain your battery too quickly. The converter charges the battery by taking AC power (shore power) and converting it to DC power, then the inverter will take the DC battery power and it turns it into AC power so it can power your appliances, if you loop it then you are using your battery power to power your converter just to send some power back to...
