This kit installs either by welding or bolting to your trailer frame and two sets can be used for a tandem-type application (but not three). Included are built-in square holes to accept standard 2-inch steel tubing for instances where reinforcement is needed or when a trailer is being built from scratch.
This Timbren kit includes the electric brake assemblies and 5-on-4-1/2 bolt pattern hubs. A brake controller such as the popular and reliable Tekonsha P2 # 90885 is required in the tow vehicle to generate the signals for the Timbren's electric drum brakes. This is a proportional controller that will allow the trailer to slow down in unison with the tow vehicle which provides for reduced brake wear on both the tow vehicle and trailer.
You might care to review the linked article on brake controllers that details much about the types available and their various advantages.
