Question:
2018 Toyota Tacoma TRD FWD. Will the EcoHitch front hitch allow the OEM air dam to be reinstalled with or without modification so only the receiver is visible? If modification is required, can you provide that info?

Hi Jim!
The EcoHitch Hidden Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - 2" # EH49CR does require the complete removal of the front air dam on your 2018 Tacoma TRD. It does not get reinstalled once the hitch is on, unfortunately, as it sits flush with the front bumper and to optimal clearance and airflow without putting the air dam back on
That said, if you are looking for a front hitch that will allow that air dam to be reinstalled, you are going to want the Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - 2" # C31075. There will be trimming involved to get it reinstalled, but the instructions that come with the hitch go over that part in good detail.
What are you wanting to use the front hitch for once it's installed?

I added this front hitch to my 2021 Tacoma TRD (3rd gen) and did not have to remove anything except 2 fasteners. I needed to do no modification or removal of the air dam or bumper cover. Hitch went on with 4 heavy duty fasteners, 2 replaced factory originals and 2 others were fished into their positions. It's solid and low profile. It can easily be used for a bike rack or something like that. I am using mine primarily to hold a winch and mount that can be used up front or removed and placed into the rear hitch to pull from the back as needed. Very happy with it and the application. Best of luck!

I installed the hitch and modified the air dam by cutting around the hitch and reinstalled. I personally like the look.

I mounted the front hitch on a 2024 GMC Sierra. It’s very useful but lower to the ground than I would like

I cut and modified my air dam so it would go back on and fit. Note: I just wished the 2" tube extended out further forward (like to the license plate frame) so I wouldn't have to use a 6" extension with my standard hitch.

Thanks for the clarification. I'm only planning to use it for an occasional bike rack install. I'd already reviewed that Curt version but was hoping to find an even cleaner finished look.
