Question:
Bulletproof hitch. Does the black ball on the hitch rub off and have silver scratches underneath after trailering?

Expert Reply:
The black powder coat is designed to last so it isn't going to immediately rub off and have scratches after use of the hitch you asked about:
- BulletProof Hitches Adjustable 2-Ball Mount for 2-1/2" Hitch - 8" Drop/Rise # HD258
While over time there will be some normal wear, the powder coat on BulletProof Hitches, including # HD258, is designed to last and is actually warrantied for a full year after purchase from any defect. Additionally, you can use touch up paint for the powder coat after the inevitable wear occurs, but the performance will remain no matter what.
This is a beast of a ball mount that comes with a 2" and 2-5/16" hitch ball and is made of steel, with the shank and channel being reinforced via a 1/2" welded gusset. The only other thing I recommend is getting locks. You can get one just to lock it to your hitch with the InfiniteRule Hitch Lock for 2-1/2" Hitches # 34061072-D, or a set that comes with both a hitch lock and lock for the ball mount, the InfiniteRule Locking Pins for BulletProof Ball Mount # 34061674-D.
