Trailer Hitch for 2027 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid Carrying Bike Rack

Updated 08/31/2026 | Published 08/28/2026

Question:

Hi etrailer, I just picked up a 2027 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid and I'm looking for a 2" hitch for my bike rack. Will this fit the hybrid model? I don't plan on towing, this is just for carrying our bikes.

Hey Trevor! Yes, the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C34FR62ZY will fit your 2027 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid. It gives you the 2" receiver you're looking for, and has a max tongue weight of 675 lbs, so it will be a great setup for carrying your bike rack. If you want to help eliminate movement from the bikes and rack, you can also add the etrailer Anti-Rattle Hitch Collar # e38FV.

What bike rack do you have and what kind of bikes are you carrying?

Thanks! I have a Kuat NV 2.0 and we're carrying a couple Trek mountain bikes, so it sounds like this will work great for us.

@TrevorC you're welcome! The Kuat NV 2.0 will work great with the 2" receiver on the # C34FR62ZY, and you'll have more than enough capacity for the rack and your Trek bikes. Sounds like you'll be all set!

I installed the hitch on my 2026 RAV4LE FWD - the installation was straight-forward and was able to install it while on a concrete floor without jacking the vehicle up and didn't even have to drop either of the 2 exhaust hangers either. One of the bolts represents a bit of a problem for torquing - was able to overcome it by using a crowfoot adapter on the torque wrench - I towed a 1500 pound trailer mounted meat grill from Minnesota to upstate New York without any trouble - it did cost me about 10-15 MPG however and it more than doubled the tolls I paid at each booth on the inter-state system

@Ron sounds like you put the hitch right to work with that trip from Minnesota to New York. The extra tolls aren't much fun, but I'm glad the hitch and RAV4 handled the trailer without any trouble. Thanks for sharing!

I didn't know the 2027 RAV4 was even available. I just got a 2026 RAV4 SE PHEV and installed the eTrailer C34FR62ZY Curt trailer hitch and it fits perfectly. Installation wasn't that difficult if you have some mechanical inclination. You have to loosen one of the muffler hangers (either one). Loosen one of its two bolts, and remove the other bolt, then slide the muffler prong from rubber mount to make room for sliding the hitch into place. Be sure to support the muffler with something. I used a plastic bucket and shim board to remove any slack so the muffler wouldn't hang down. You'll also need a 19mm torque adapter for using a torque wrench on the passenger side because there's not enough room to fit a torque wrench and socket. The driver's side has plenty of room for a torque wrench and socket. I used the "Capri Tools 1/2 in. Drive 19 mm Torque Adapter, 12-Point Box End" from Amazon. I used a floor jack to raise the hitch into place. Put some cardboard between the jack and hitch so you don't scratch the hitch. Line up the hitch bolt holes one at a time and hand tighten all four hitch bolts first, remove the slack by tightening with a wrench, then tighten with a torque wrench to spec. The required 86 ft-lbs torque is a lot, but it's required and it works. Note: My car came with a tie-down plate for anchoring the car during shipping, which interfered with hitch location, which I had to remove (one bolt). Best of luck.

@Jayc thanks for sharing all of those installation details! I'm glad to hear the hitch fit your 2026 RAV4 SE PHEV perfectly and the install went smoothly. That torque adapter tip should be especially helpful for anyone tackling the installation themselves.
