Question:

Hi, I have a 14 Aluminum Open Utility Trailer, I just use it to haul riding mowers, golf carts and other miscellaneous stuff. Im looking for stabilizer jacks for the back corners for when the trailer is unhooked with a load on it. I didnt know if there is an aluminum jack on the market or not, knowing the aluminum can not be in contact with metal. Thank you for any guidance you can offer.

Thanks for the information Paul! To add rear stabilizer jacks to your 14' Aluminum Open Utility Trailer, I recommend the Stabilizer Jacks item # TJ01RT-HD.

The Stabilizer Jacks item # TJ01RT-HD have a 1,000 lbs support capacity per jack. These jacks can be bolted directly to your trailer's frame and will fold down when you're ready to load or unload your riding mowers or golf cart. They are capable of extending up to 18" and when folded down are 11-1/2" so you will want to confirm you have enough clearance below your trailer's frame for these to fit.

If you don't have enough clearance for the Stabilizer Jacks item # TJ01RT-HD, I recommend our etrailer Scissor Stabilizer Jacks w/ Handle and Drill Adapter item # e56VV. These extend from as little as 5" to as high as 24" and have a 5,000 lbs capacity. This kit comes with a handle and a convenient drill bit attachment that makes adjusting them quick and easy.

As far as bolting steel jacks to your trailer's aluminum frame goes, you will need to use some rubber washers or a thick piece of plastic between them. This will prevent any galvanic corrosion.

I really like how quick and easy the HD model is to deploy and stow. On my own trailer, I used high density plastic for cutting boards as a spacer for clearance reasons and it works well, even using 90 degree offsets to mount them. It cuts easily to size and drills even easier.

While my core frame is aluminum. The rest is a mixture of wood and plastic. I have electrical wiring and breaker box mounted. To insulate, I went to the big box hardware store and got a roll of industrial rubber mat. That would help big time.
