Recommended Installation Hardware for etrailer Scissor Stabilizer Jacks e36VV

Updated 03/17/2026 | Published 03/12/2026

Question:

What is the recommended mounting hardware? I understand I will need a bolt, flat washer, locking washer, and bolt. I also understand that length will depend on each application. I am just curious as to which diameter and grade or type. Thanks.

Hey Allen, thanks for reaching out. For bolting on the etrailer Scissor Stabilizer Jacks # e36VV the recommended hardware is self-tapping 3/8" x 1" screws. If you use that, you won't need any bolts or washers or anything.

You'll want to use a 1/8" drill bit to create pilot holes, then use an 11/32" bit to finish the holes. Then use a 9/16" socket to attach the jack to the frame using self-tapping screws and you'll be good to go.

What kind of trailer are you putting the jacks on?

Great. Is there a “grade” or material (e.g. #8/Zinc plated/etc.)?

@Allen Yes grade 5 or 8 would be just fine. They don't list that specifically but either of those would be more than sufficient. Zinc plated will be fine as that will be the easiest to find.

I replaced my rear stabilizer jacks (originals) with the eTrailer ones. Only had to modify the existing frame mounting holes a bit to fit the new ones. Easy to install.
