Does Landing Gear Leg LC179013 Attach Directly to Motor

Updated 08/26/2026 | Published 08/23/2026

Question:

re part LC179013 landing gear what is the diameter of the shaft Ill hook the motor onto? second I need a new 7 pin plug from the truck bed to tie into the wiring under the vehicle. I did not see a simple unit with just the plug, an 8 foot cord with just the 7 colored wires at the end to tie in myself.

Hey Gary, the landing gear leg part # LC179013 actually doesn't attach directly to a motor. It attaches to a gear box like the part # LC276602 instead which then a motor attaches to. Do you have a similar landing gear setup currently that is needing a replacement leg? If so, let me know what brand it is and I'll see if we have a replacement for it.

The easiest way to install 5th wheel/gooseneck 7-way is to use a kit like the part # C56000 which easily ties into a 7-way installed at the rear of the truck by plugging in line with it. Do you for sure want a setup that requires splicing?

OK yes sorry, what size it the shaft that goes through the hole of the gear box that the motor is attached to? the measurements of the leg featured seems to match all of my numbers, just can't decided 'til I know if my 1/2 inch motor box will slip onto that shaft? Is a 2023 cougar 2700bh. I do want a unit that requires splicing as everything there is already spliced. why make it more complicated by splicing in another failure point (a plug under a truck) when I can solder and heatshrink wires and be done with it. The unit already there has failed and needs replacement. Thank you for your prompt reply, Id hope to be ordering these products before the weekend.

@GaryK If you see Lippert, LCI, Venture, Stromberg Carlson, or Atwood your current motor will work with the above setup as they are all made to same specs. If you have a different brand (very unlikely) it won't work. Due to how new your Cougar is I would be shocked if it's not a compatible setup.

Yes my motor says LCI pn 142178. So w ith the 5th wheel plug unit C56000 I see the upper bed end, the lower end under the truck, has 2 styles of plugs?? both with the same colors? So I could undo the plugs and splice this harness into my system if I wished yes?? thanks again for being helpful. GK
