Is It Normal for the Ball On A B&W Continuum Hitch To Rotate?

Question:
I purchased a B and W continuum hitch from you guys a few years ago. When I unhooked the camper last I noticed the ball physically move I need to know if this is normal and I never noticed it. Im able to spin the ball by hand I understand the bottom should swivel and that the ball and weight distribution are part of the same assembly but seems strange the ball can rotate If not normal how do I repair I spent a lot of $ on this to fail already

Hey Tim, thanks for reaching out. What you're describing is actually normal. On the B&W Continuum, the hitch ball is designed to rotate within the head assembly. The ball and weight distribution mechanism are one assembly, but the ball itself isn't keyed to prevent it from turning, so being able to spin it by hand doesn't indicate anything is broken. The important thing is that there isn't excessive up-and-down movement or looseness in the ball. A ball that rotates freely but stays tight in the head is operating as intended.
If you're noticing more than just the ball rotating, for example, if the ball is rocking side to side, lifting up, or the head feels loose that would be worth taking a closer look. What you are describing sounds totally normal though.

Supposed to rotate. It's on a 360* bearing. DO NOT SKIP ADDING GREASE TO IT. Almost after every trip. Buy a good grease gun to avoid a mess. Keep the hitch part attached to the trailer out of dirt, mud and or water. The composite bars are also not UV safe so cover that too if you can. I dont really cover mine, but I keep it clean. Grease it often!
