We purchased the Blue Ox Base plate for a 2025 Jeep 392 at the Gelettet FRCA Rally. The Wife and I installed it ourselves in about 3 hours. Removing the steel bumper and steel skid plate was easy; however, they are heavy and not a single-person job. The skid plate on our rig had to have two notches to fit back in place. Once marked, I used a Jigsaw with a new blade, and it was no problem. Jeeps with the LED lights can drain your battery when towing. I have gone to magnetic sticks on lights to prevent this problem. I tried wiring kits, and they don't stop the problem. Other people have put in battery disconnect switches. If you use a Break Buddy, you will have the same problem. I do recommend a Braking system for safety. Go online and see what other Jeep people are doing, and keep a jump box handy. The problem is not with Blue Ox, it's a jeep problem that has not been fixed that I know of.

I used the blue ox BX 1139 for my 2025 Jeep Rubicon 392 with steel bumper and belly pan and works perfect. I also used the same blue ox on a 2024 with a plastic bumper and belly pan. It will work with both. I recommend using a corded angle grinder to cut the belly pan; my cordless batteries kept running hot and running out of juice so it took longer to cut. Otherwise I love the BX 1139 for flat towing

We have a 2021 wrangler unlimited rubicon diesel with the steel bumper I installed the base plate and have towed this jeep behind our motorhome and camper for approx 10000 miles. I did have to cut a little notch out of the skid plate for it to work. We have the led light package so i am now disconnecting the battery when towing because when i hit the brakes in the tow vehicle it wakes up the computer in the jeep over and over killing the battery. Some suggest modifying the wiring harness in the jeep but i didnt want to do this. We also use the patriot brake controller which works great in our camper towing the jeep . Not so good in the motorhome because the distance was too long for the Bluetooth connection between the two. Moved the controller back in a compartment to the rear and now it works great!

I installed the Blue Ox Base Plate a couple of years ago and we have made two trips towing our Jeep Wrangler 2 Door for almost 10,000 miles now. It works great and the installation was not too much of a challenge. Only needed to drill a couple of holes and cut holes in the plastic shield under the bumper for the tow attachment points. I find it is very easy to attach the vehicle. I bought two ball lock pins to replace the clevis pins that came with the tow bar. This is the part number from Huyett Pos Lock 1/2 x 3 T-Handle Orange. I just find them easier to work with when attaching and detaching the vehicle.
