Are the Thule Replacement Vinyl Hole Covers Installed on the Inside or Outside of the Cargo Box?

Hello, I just purchased some vinyl hole covers for my roof carrier from you all and was wondering what’s the best method to affix them? Should they be placed on the outside of the box covering the hole or the inside of the box covering the hole? Thanks!

Hi David,

The Thule replacement Vinyl Hole Covers part # 10171 are intended to cover unused mounting holes on the bottom of the cargo box shell and should be placed on the outside of the box. Just make sure the surface is dry and clean before using the covers, so they get a good stick!

It sounds like you need the vinyl hole covers such as #10171. For the key, the picture is not the actual key, just a representative photo. The actual key #THKEYN2860 will have teeth cut on both sides.
