Hey Roger!

I'd say there are no pros to using a trailer's battery instead of vehicle's for a Bluetooth brake controller. A Bluetooth brake controller like Curt Echo Wireless Brake Controller - 7-Way Plug-in w/ Bluetooth App - Up to 2 Axles - Proportional # C51180 requires power from the vehicle connector and not the trailer battery. The reasoning for this is because the alternator continuously restores the vehicle's battery whereas the trailer's battery will drain and eventually die, leaving you without control of the trailer brakes.

What kind of vehicle are you installing a brake controller on? What kind of trailer are you pulling?

Its on a 2020 Hyundia Palisade. The trailer is a 2021 viking 9.0 with solar and 1000 amp/hour setup

@RogerH That's an awesome setup! I really like that camper. I think with that size battery, it'll be pretty hard to drain it with a Bluetooth controller. I'd still recommend using the vehicle's battery since it's constantly being restored, but a 1000 AH battery will be more than sufficient if the controller is the only accessory being run off of the battery.

@RogerH That's even better, sounds like it's pretty self sufficient! Are you a full-timer?
