When you’re putting on serious miles with a full load, this setup is ready to carry it. The Karrier ST235/80R16 radial tire is Load Range E with a 10-ply rating, built to handle up to 3,500 lbs at 90 psi. It’s matched to a 16" x 6" aluminum wheel rated at 4,400 lbs and approved for highway speeds up to 81 mph (speed rating M). The radial design cuts down heat buildup and rolling resistance for longer tread life and steady handling at speed.
This tire pairs double steel belts with full nylon plies for strength that lasts through long hauls and repeated use. The premium rubber compound and computer-generated tread pattern deliver solid traction in wet or dry conditions, adding confidence when the road stretches out ahead.
Salt, rain, and road grime won’t take this one down easily. The black open-spoke aluminum wheel is corrosion resistant and clear coated on the front and back. It stays looking sharp while standing up to moisture and rough conditions year after year.
Loose lug nuts are a thing of the past. Kenda’s Improved Clamp Force (ICF) technology creates a tight, lasting joint between the wheel and hub when properly installed. That means reliable clamping pressure that helps eliminate the need for constant retightening after long trips.
The tire on this assembly is backed by a 1-year worry-free guarantee. If it’s damaged in any way during the first 12 months, it will be replaced at no charge. Combined with its 2-year limited warranty on the tire-and-wheel assembly, it’s coverage that keeps your setup moving without hesitation.
1. Count the lug holes
Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).
Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug
2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"
2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this Kenda Karrier ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire in a Load Range E, and it's mounted on this 16 inch black aluminum trailer wheel with the 8 on 6 1/2 inch bolt pattern. Now, this is a tire and wheel assembly, it's ideal for stock trailers, utility trailers, and even campers. The wheel on this is a nice durable, corrosion resistant aluminum wheel, has an open eight spoke design to it, and as you can see, it's a nice glossy black finish with a machine face on the spokes, and then they do a clear coating over the full wheel for excellent corrosion resistance. Now, the diameter on this wheel is 16 inches, the width on just the wheel is six inches wide, the bolt pattern we mentioned is an 8 on 6 1/2 inch bolt pattern, and if you wanna measure that on a wheel like this that's an even number of lugs, it's pretty simple, because the lug holes are directly across from each other, so all you have to do is pick any hole, measure from the center of that hole to the center of the hole right across from it. On this, it'll measure 6 1/2 inches, so 8 on 6 1/2 inch bolt pattern.
The pilot hole, which is this large hole here in the center of the wheel, goes over the hub on your trailer, diameter of that opening is 4.9 inches. And I do wanna mention, if you noticed, this does not come with the center cap, if you do want one, we do sell those separately on our website, you just wanna make sure to get one that's 4.9 inch diameter, so it'll fit right through here when you install it. Does use the wheel lug size of 1/2 inch by 20, and the weight capacity of just the wheel is 4,400 pounds. One other feature, they use steel inserts in the lug nut wells here, helps keep your wheel securely in place on your trailer hub. When you tighten down your lugs, it prevents those holes from elongating or wearing down and eliminates the need for constant re-tightening of your lug nuts.
Now, the tire itself, it is a Kenda Karrier special radial trailer tire, and when I say special trailer design, that's the one that'll couple the strength of a bias tire with the durability and stability of a radial tire, uses double steel belts, full nylon plies, combined for nice superior function and long life, and they have a nice computer generated tread design and premium rubber compound materials, gives you superior traction in wet and dry conditions. Now, we do mention that it's an ST tire, which stands for special trailer tire, has the sturdy sidewall, so it can handle heavy loads, it's created specifically for trailers, it's not intended for use on other vehicles. Just to go over the tire, the size, which will be stamped on it, right here ST again for special trailer, 235/80R16, the R means it's a radial tire. Section width, 9.2 inches, overall diameter from the bottom to the top when it's inflated is 30.7. This is a Load Range E tire, which means it's a 10-ply rated tire, has a maximum load of 3,500 pounds at 90 psi.
And last thing I do wanna mention is all the new trailer tires are coming through with speed ratings on them, and where you can tell the speed rating is if you go right after the size we just went over, you'll see two numbers for the load index, and then the letter M. Speed rating is always in a letter designation and it's stamped on the sidewall, so letter M would mean 81 mile per hour speed rating. And this assembly does meet the DOT, Department of Transportation specifications. But that's gonna do it for the review on this Kenda Karrier ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire in a Load Range E on the 16 inch black aluminum trailer wheel with the 8 on 6 1/2 inch bolt pattern.

ETrailer has great shipping and boxes with tires were well boxed and appears no damage, trial fit one tire which went on well and looks like I’ll need lug nuts which I asked about but since ETrailer doesn’t give discounts to Veterans, I figured I would buy elsewhere. The tires, great appearance, great date code on tire! The gray rims were WAY lighter in color than what ETrailers pictures show online, I really wanted darker to match the boat more but they still look nice and appear to be a great set but if you buy these, the gray is much lighter in person than online! Overall, yea it’s not a bad price for combo, it provides ease of one stop shop but sorry, your Company could be a little more relaxed at least offering a small discount to veterans… 10% is not gonna affect ETrailers profit or margin! Its my opinion and trying to be honest and informational for your Customers ETrailer, I signed the blank check and provided feed back so others can be informed! Wouldn’t let me upload a last photo.
