Im converting a small trailer brake system from Disc to Electric Drum. I have a 7 x 11/4 electric brake system in my shopping cart. Along with 7 4 on 4 Drums. How do I know if the bearings will fit the axle? Are they a standard size for a 2000 to 2500lbs axle?

Hey Glenn! There are two standards for 2k spindles. The Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # 8-173-16UC3-EZ uses # L44649 inner and outer bearings with an inside diameter of 1.063". If you have # L44643 bearings with a 1.00" ID the only option we have is the # AKHD-545-2-EZ-1K which has a 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern instead of a 4 on 4. Both are compatible with the etrailer Electric Trailer Brakes # AKEBRK-2.
If you aren't sure about your bearings, you will either need to pull the hubs and measure, or identify it using the axle tag. If it is a Lippert or Dexter axle they can identify the bearings using the serial number. You will also need to add a 7-way like # e99011 and run some additional wire # 10-1-1 to complete the conversion.

Thank you for your reply. I'm converting a camper trailer I'll be pulling with my motorcycle. The trailer came with Electric over Hydraulic Disk Brakes powered by a Brake Rite actuator. The actuator has failed and a replacement is too expensive. I currently pull a Timeout camper that has electric brakes, so my bike is already setup for this kind off system. I already ordered the Brake Drums that have the L44643 bearings under an assumption they are standardized. Should the bearings not be the right size can they be removed and replaced with the corrected ones? I have the means to do the required work provided the outer race is the same.
