Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

by:

Found what I needed, called in to verify. Quick shipping and most important, as described.

by:

Ordered the wrong size drum for brakes. Return was quick and easy.

by:

Drums installed easily, wheel bearing races not very good quality, had some pitting due to rust, Decided to install as I had a trip planned and didn't want to spend another weekend working on it. Hope it lasts.

by:

All the parts I ordered were delivered in a timely manner, and seem to be high quality. They fit perfectly which really impressed me as many variations there are in these types of parts. I would definitely do business with etrailer.com again. Thanks.

by:

This hub and drum assembly was a perfect fit. I had no idea which one I needed. I called and talked to Ricky S. He told me exactly what I needed and got it ordered,

Works perfectly and made well! I have a 1997 Jayco 1207 popup camper and it was kind of a guess on which one to buy. I was torn between the Dexter 7 x 1 1/4 or the 7 x 1 3/4. I chose this one and it was perfect! My only complaint is that one of them arrived to me with multiple chips and starting to rust, but I figured it's just going to get scratched up anyways so I just put it on the trailer. The bearings, grease seal, lug nuts, and the actual hug seem to be just like OEM. Shipping was very quick as well!

by:

One of the best projects I ever did. Love the results. Everything worked, fit and preforms as expected. The customer service helped me order the correct parts, the first time. Replaced lines, hubs, bearings, drums, brakes, everything.
First Rate.

Everything worked great and still does. Thanks to the help from the etrailer Team

by:

Parts came in quicker than expected. Everything fit great and and looks great !!

by:

Put this on my 2002 Jayco Eagle 14so. Perfect fit. The old lugs spun in the hub, easier just to replace than try to repair.

by:

Their on time delivery was really Excellent ! I’m in gratitude to setup Hydraulic brakes to keep my load in order and safe from twisting. They exceeded the mark on ‘Prompt delivery’. However, I had to get the right spindle from another reseller; check that ‘a/16 is greater than road tolerance.

by:

Hub fits as stated and showed up a day early
This
place conducts buisness professionally and
Has great cust service.
Will continue to use them for my trailer parts

  • Troubleshooting Pre-Mature Wear on 7" Brake Assemblies and Magnets
Hey Tom, thanks for reaching out! I've never really heard of this happening before, but what I can say is that two common mistakes people make are how tight they make the castle nut on the outside of the hub, like your Dexter Axle # 8-276-5UC3, and how much they adjust the brakes like your Dexter Axle Kit # 23-47-48. You'll want to tighten the castle nut down so it's snug and then back it off to the next adjustment, so the hub is able to spin. Then for the brakes you want them adjusted...

  • Correct Replacement Brakes and Hub/Drum Assembly for '97 Jayco Popup
The difference between part # 8-276-5UC3 and part # 8-173-16UC3 is that the 5UC3 works with a 7" x 1-3/4" brake assembly while the 16UC3 works with a 7" x 1-1/4" brake assembly brake assembly. Other than that they use # L44649 inner and outer bearings and a 10-9 grease seal that has the 1.5" inner diameter. You definitely want to go with assemblies that match your bearings so if you're able to confirm that you have L44649 bearings then I'd use one of the options mentioned above. The GVWR...

  • Recommended Brake Kit For Fishing Holdings Single Axle Boat Trailer
For your Fishing Holdings Trailer, I recommend the Dexter Hydraulic Trailer Brake Kit - Uni-Servo - 7" - Left and Right Hand Assemblies - 2.5K # 23-398-399. These can be used with the Dexter 4 on 4 Complete Hub-and-Drum Assembly - for Hydraulic Brakes - 2,200-lb Axles # 8-276-5UC3. This assembly is for spindles with measurements of 1.063 inches for the inner diameter of both the inner and outer bearing. I've attached an article to help you measure your spindles to confirm a bearing fit....

  • How To Determine Axle Capacity of Trailer with 4 Lug Hubs with Brakes
The only way to know for sure is to check your bearings. That being said, the most common 4-bolt configuration is a 4 on 4 bolt pattern, which are typically found on 2,000 lb to 2,700 lb trailer axles. The only 4 on 4 bolt pattern hub and drum assemblies we carry are for 2,200 lb axles and use # L44649 inner/outer bearings. See below. Compatible with 7 inch x 1-1/4 inch electric and hydraulic brakes # 8-173-16UC3 - Includes bearings, races, grease seal, standard grease cap and lug nuts. #...

  • What Lug Nuts And Dust Caps Go With The Dexter Hub 8-276-5?
Hello Peyton, thanks for reaching out. The # 8-276-5 hub has 1/2" studs, so for a lug nut I recommend a one-piece lug nut like part # 12CLN-L. The dust caps are the standard 1.98" and for that I recommend part # F001518. We offer the # 8-276-5 hub as a kit that comes with bearings, your seal, lug nuts and a dust cap. For the whole kit it will be part # 8-276-5UC3
