Are Wireless RV Camera Systems Reliable

About 10 years ago I bought your system, the wireless didnt work so we hard wired it. It worked as long as we werent in traffic but went dark screen when ever we were in traffic. Finally gave up on camera systems. The question is have they improved enough for me to think about another.

Hey Garth! The camera systems have come a long way in 10 years and they definitely work well and are reliable. I recommend the latest generation from Furrion, the Vision S+ # FR57AD. The Vision S+ gives you a real-time view using a 2.4 GHz signal and will avoid that signal interference you experienced in traffic in the past.
This version comes with a 7" monitor and the main backup camera, a 5" monitor system # FR39DF is also available. If you want side marker cameras we also have the # FR64AD with the 7" monitor and the # FR69DF with the 5" monitor.
What kind of trailer do you have?

Hey Garth. I cannot speak with experience with backup cameras past. However, the Furion S+ system I purchased a short time ago has been great. I’ve only used it a couple of times. It was easy to install and worked great right out of the box. The onscreen backup guides and microphone were really helpful. Based on what you said about your previous system, I don’t see that happening with the new Furion system.

I had a WiFi camera system on my last trailer that work for 3 years without a problem. We bought a new trailer that was set up for the Furrion system, so we bought one of these. The first time I used the system it worked great. The second time the camera would drop off and not come back for 30 minutes. We contacted etrailer and was told that after 60 days then if something goes wrong you have to deal with Furrion. I was a little put off on that, but it is what it is. We contacted Furrion and were told that newer trucks (mine is a 2021 Nissan Titan) that the power to the trailer is a pulse instead of a steady stream. We had to buy an adaptor ($75) that would solve our problems. You can google all this and fine that there are a ton of guys that bought this system and have the same problem. I bought the adaptor but before I tried it out, I pulled the camera off to check my connections. I also checked the antenna for any loose connections. I tested the system and it seemed to be working. We went camping in May and June and it seems to be working great. I never tried the adaptor but I have it in case the system starts to act up. Just a side note, I have a friend with the identical setup I have (truck and trailer, truck is newer - 2025) that had the same problem, and he has done everything that I had done, plus used the adaptor and his system still does not work. So, I guess you take your chances, just know that after 60 days you have to deal with Furrion and they will put you through a ton of test. My friend still is stuck with a $400 system that does not work. This is really long but I wish etrailer would advise buyers that this problem exist before they buy it. Robin says that these systems have come a long way, well in my opinion Furrion has a long way to go.

I really like this camera! I don't really use it for backing up however, it is great while I am traveling down the road. I can see traffic behind and also as they approach to pass.
