Surge Brakes for Demco KK260 Tow Dolly

I have a demco kk260 currently has no brakes. Do you offer a surge brake kit that will bolt to this flange pattern ?

I do have brakes made specifically for your Demco KK260 Kar Kaddy! Demco Hydraulic Drum Brake - Single Servo - Galvanized - 10" - LH - Self-Adjusting - 3,500 lbs # DMSB24429M and Demco Hydraulic Drum Brake - Single Servo - Galvanized - 10" - RH - Self-Adjusting - 3,500 lbs # DMSB24428M will fit directly onto your tow dolly and they're made by Demco to work with a surge brake actuator.

I was able to find other replacement parts for your KK260 dolly. What other parts or maintenance are you needing for it? What kind of vehicle are you towing with that dolly?

Hi yes I would be needing a surge coupler as well and the damper piston for the steering. I could not find a model number On this and am trying to confirm I have the right model number, think there is a measurement I can take in regards to outside width of wheels

@GeorgeM The manual specifies that the Kar Kaddy KK260 used a DA66 actuator, but since that's now discontinued, you can go with any surge brake actuator with a 2" ball, just make sure it's adequately rated. I recommend going with Demco Hydraulic Brake Actuator - Drum - Zinc - 2" Ball - 7,000 lbs # DM72VR. This will be the easiest actuator to latch and unlatch with your hitch ball and the 7,000lbs capacity will be more than enough for most vehicles, unless you're carry a massive tank of a car. The replacement damper for the DA66 is Demco Replacement Shock Dampener for DA66 and DA66L Hydraulic Actuators # DM05692. For brake drums, you need a 10" drum, but you'll need to confirm your bolt pattern to ensure that it will match your wheel. I've attached a link below to show you how to measure if you need help. More than likely, you have a 5-on-4-1/2" bolt pattern, but you need to measure to make sure. If that's correct, you can go with our Easy Grease Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly for 3.5K Axles - 10" - 5 on 4-1/2 - Pre-Greased # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K and that will be a perfect match to your brakes.

@JerryB Thanks so much for all that info, this weekend I’ll measure the backing plate bolt pattern and will start ordering. I’ll ask one more thing however as far as brake lines ,,,,,size and thread on the wheel cylinders thanks, the actuator should be fine indeed I’ll either be towing a 2011 Volvo c-70 But most likely a 2024 Nissan Altima

@George The size of those cars is perfect! You won't have any trouble setting them up on your Kar Kaddy. The brake lines and connections that you need are all included in the Kodiak Hydraulic Brake Line Kit - Single Axle - 18' # 18SI-BLKIT. The fittings are 3/16" fittings and the thread size is 3/8"-24.

Hey Michael, so the standard trailer brake flange 4 bolt pattern is 2-7/8 inch square. Some manufacturers call it 2-3/4 inch but it is technically 2-7/8 inch.

The hub part #DM04369 that you referenced basically just bolts to a flange on the spindle of the Kar Kaddy. Basically you would remove the 4 bolts that hold the old one on and then use them to reinstall this to it.
