Will the Dometic # DMC83ZR CT Thermostat Kit Work with My Penguin II Air Conditioner?

Updated 07/07/2026 | Published 06/30/2026

Question:

Hello, I have a Dometic Penguin II model 641816.751J0-M 13,500 BTU, A/C only, not a heat pump installed on my travel trailer. The trailer currently has: * Dometic CCC2 wall thermostat * Integrated rooftop control board P/N 3312227.000 under the rooftop shroud * Single-zone system * Propane furnace controlled by the thermostat Due to an electrical surge, I suspect either the rooftop control board, the thermostat, or both have been damaged. I am interested in purchasing the DMC83ZR CT Single-Zone Thermostat and Control Board Kit, but I need to know exactly how it integrates with my existing rooftop unit. Specifically: 1. Does the DMC83ZR completely replace the existing 3312227.000 rooftop control board, or does that board remain in service? 2. If it replaces the board, does the new CT control box connect directly to the compressor, fan motors, freeze sensor, and furnace circuits? 3. Is the original 4-conductor RJ-11 thermostat cable reused, or must it be converted to the CT thermostat wiring? 4. Is this considered a complete conversion from the CCC2 system to the CT system for my exact model? 5. Are any additional Dometic adapters, conversion harnesses, or parts required besides the DMC83ZR kit? If possible, could you also provide the appropriate Dometic installation manual or wiring diagram for this conversion? Thank you.

Hello Rick,

Thanks for reaching out with all of the details about your setup. I checked with Dometic to make sure I could give you the best answer.

The Dometic CT Single Zone Thermostat and Control Board Kit # DMC83ZR will not work with your Penguin II model 641816.751J0-M. Dometic confirmed that your air conditioner uses the CCC2 10-button control system, and the CT system is not designed to replace or convert that setup. The CT control box uses a different communication system and a 3-wire thermostat connection, while your CCC2 system communicates through an RJ-11 cable, so the two systems are not compatible.

For your air conditioner, the correct replacement control box is the Dometic CCCII V2 Multizone Air Conditioner Control Box # DMC43JF. This replaces the original CCC2 control board and is the correct option for your Penguin II. If your thermostat is still working, replacing just the control box may be all you need.

If the power surge also damaged the thermostat, that's where things get a little more difficult. The compatible CCC2 thermostats, part 3314082.011 (white) and 3314082.000 (black), have been discontinued by Dometic, and unfortunately we no longer have them available. If you do need a replacement thermostat, your best bet will be to check with RV parts dealers or other retailers that may still have new old stock on hand.

I am sorry I do not have a wiring diagram for the conversion, because it is not possible.

Does your old thermostat still work?
