Will the Furrion Chill Cube Bundle # FR69TD Work with My Existing Propane Furnace?

Question:
The old Coleman-Mach 8333E776 13.5K BTU unit on our coach has given up the ghost after 26 years, and Im looking at the FR69TD bundle to replace it. I actually have two Coleman-Mach units and two propane furnaces, each controlled by a separate manual thermostat, forward and aft. The aft AC works fine, and as far as I am aware, theres no zoning involved. Neither thermostat appears to control anything other than its respective units. I just want to verify that if I buy that bundle, the included thermostat will work with the forward propane furnace and wont interfere with the aft units thermostat and controls. Thanks!

Thanks for writing in! Twenty-six years was a great run!
Based on what you've described, it does not sound like your coach has a zoned climate control system. Since the front and rear heating and cooling systems each have their own thermostat, replacing the front Coleman-Mach unit with the Furrion Chill Cube Bundle # FR69TD will not interfere with the operation of your rear air conditioner, rear furnace, or rear thermostat.
One of the things I really like about the Furrion Chill Cube is how much quieter it is than many of the older rooftop air conditioners. It also uses the newer R32 refrigerant and features a variable-speed compressor, so instead of constantly cycling on and off, it can adjust its output to help maintain a more consistent temperature while reducing noise.
The only thing I'd like to verify is compatibility between the included Furrion thermostat and your front propane furnace. I don't anticipate any issues, but I'd like to confirm that with Furrion before telling you it will work.
Could you please respond with the model number of your front propane furnace? Once I have that information, I'll reach out to Furrion and verify that the included thermostat is compatible with your furnace so I can give you a definitive answer before you place your order.

I had to add a relay to get my Furrion Chill Cube thermostat to close the loop for my furnace to run. The Furrion thermostat only sends a call signal and doesn't close the circuit to turn it on. It is a design flaw as far as I am concerned. Works fine if you have a furrion furnace but how many of those are installed? The standard that they divated from is the thermostate closes the loop. I worked it all out with AI and got it to work I suggest you do the same.

Exactly what Alex said. If it's anything other than a Furion furnace, you add a 12VDC SPST relay for the furnace. I will tell you that you will be happy with the unit. This weekend was over 100 deg.F, and I was able to keep my camper 73 degrees while the solar load was at its peek.

Really happy with the unit, It really cools the Fifth wheel by itself, the bedroom AC is not needed to cool bedroom. My unit is ducted. I couldn’t get the thermostat to work for my furnace so I just added one for furnace only next to the AC thermostat but had to use my control box from old AC in new unit plenty of room in there. I have read the other post where they added relay or resistor to furnace and it worked! I am surprised that unit cycles down to low speed but never completely shuts off! Still wouldn’t hesitate to buy another one because I am very satisfied!

Hey Kate, I pulled the trigger and installed the Chill Cube yesterday, but I didn't install the wall-mounted thermostat yet. I just left the old one in place to control the furnace, as the separate thermostat I purchased did not come with wiring to do the install, and I didn't want to start cutting up the plug in the new unit. If I get the proper wiring and run it, I will let you know if it works. Also, I have no clue how I'm going to get to the heaters to get you a model number. They're both buried in the basement next to the wet bay - and from the looks of things, the exterior vented panel doesn't come off - unless I missed it. Thanks, Tim

Love the unit and remote T-Stat. It uses so much less power than my old Mach unit that I can actually use it hooked up to my 110v outlet at my home! Never could do that with the old unit. The only change I'll make when I replace my other old unit is that I will install it myself. I helped my installer and there wasn't anything I could not have done. Don't hesitate to get one of these units!! Best, Bill
