Question:
Last year I purchased DM44TV for my 2006 Dodge 3500. I decided to upgrade my truck to a 2026 F450. Will this hitch fit? If so what adapter do i need to purchase?

Hey Tom! Do you have the puck system in your 2026 F-450? You can adapt the Demco Autoslide to the Ford factory prep using the Replacement Side Plates for Demco Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - Ford Super Duty # DM6033.
However, since the F-450 comes with an 8' bed you may want to consider switching to a fixed 5th wheel hitch like the B&W Companion # BWRVK3300 or # BWRVK3305.
What are trailer are you towing?

Hey Tom, I went thru the same situation 2 years ago ‘21 Ram 3500 short bed to ‘22 F-450 8’ bed. I had called Demco directly to provide me a possible solution for utilizing the auto slide hitch from my Ram. They suggested the same solution as your looking at by swapping out the side plates. It mated up perfectly with the F-450 pucks and auto slider. You may have already considered this, with that F-450 (great choice btw) you’ve got the gooseneck ball. I have now changed trailers which now has the Reese Groose Box. I really like it, no start/stop chucking like I’d get with the autoslider. Frees up the bed space since the huge & heavy hitch is not sitting in your bed. (Once I had the autoslider in my bed, it stayed there since the dang thing is so heavy, didn’t have a hoist or forklift (sure put limits on what I could haul in the bed when not towing. I was able to sell my autoslider used. Sorry I couldn’t help you with adapter kit part numbers you need for your truck & hitch, all my paperwork went with the hitch when I sold it. Best of travels.

I bought the Demco slide as I had a 6’ bed on my F250, after a couple years I ended up inheriting a an F350 dually, 12 years newer and a 8’ bed, I purchased the puck side rails as I had the factory puck rails already on the F350, once installed they mounted perfectly to bed, next I machined a couple of stop blocks and mounted to the Demco rails to prevent the slide action from occurring, this fix has worked out perfectly, three years later and oh 22K miles with this set up I’ve had NO problems, what’s nice is I can take the stop blocks off and use it in my F250 which has happened a couple of times, the Demco is now universal and adaptive to both trucks. Yes it will work in the long bed as well provided you install a set of stop blocks to keep the slide from working Oh and yes when using in your F450 be sure to remove the king pin plate or the side rails if the Demco came with them to prevent damage to the slide mechanism Hope this finds your mind to rest easy now

Tom, I have been using a DEMCO Autoslide 5th Wheel hitch for about 8 years. Recently I purchased a 2025 F350 with a puck mounting system already in the truck bed. This change required a DM6033 Autoslide plate kit conversion. I remove my 5th wheel hitch when not pulling my camper. This was an easy conversion, and I have no issues with installation or removal. Satisfied with my DEMCO equipment. Not sure with is applicable to the 2026 F450. If it is, I hope this is helpful.
