Question:

How do I know if this pinbox will fit my fifth wheel trailer? And should I go with a cushioned or non-cushioned pinbox?

To determine if the MORryde Cushioned 5th Wheel Pin Box for 14K to 18K Trailers w/ Lippert 1621 and 1621HD # MR84VR will fit your trailer you'll need to first determine your trailer's bolt pattern. There will typically be a sticker (pictured below) that lists a serial number, RPO number, and LCI item number that we can use to look up your bolt pattern. If you sticker is missing or has been painted over then you'll need to measure the bolt pattern using the attached guide below.

The MORryde Cushioned 5th Wheel Pin Box for 14K to 18K Trailers w/ Lippert 1621 and 1621HD # MR84VR is designed to fit a 1621 bolt pattern, which is the most common for trailers. Cushioned pin boxes like this one will definitely be an upgrade over a standard pin box and give you a smoother ride quality. With MORryde pin boxes there are two capacities that you'll need to pay attention to so that you select the correct fit. Those capacities are the overall capacity and shear spring capacity. The # MR84VR has an overall capacity of 18,000lbs with a shear spring capacity of 14,001lbs to 18,000lbs. You'll want to check the GVWR of your trailer and ensure that it fits within the shear spring capacity.

Kevin, I am having the hardest time determining what pin box I have. My GD Reflection is a 2023 model year and I was told that GD starting using the Rhino box then (or in some cases before). But looking at my box (basic shape) I think I still have the 1621. The sticker on my unit shows an RPO # 0008683108 and the LCI # 2020106972 (the same number in your picture) Can you point me in the right direction. Thanks, Dave

@DaveB Hey Dave, based on the numbers you provided you do have a 1621 bolt pattern. If you're wanting to go with a MORryde cushioned pin box then you'll want to first verify your trailer's GVWR, which is usually listed on the driver's side by the front of the trailer. Based on the GVWR you'll need one of the following options: Up to 11.5k # MR64VR 11.5k - 14k # MR74VR 14k - 18K # MR84VR

@Steve Sorry for the delay, I reached out to Lippert to verify exactly what pin box was on your camper with the info you provided. They said that the Lippert 1621 king pin rated for 15.5K was what was originally installed on your camper. Since the Lippert 1621 is rated for 15.5K GWVR, you'll want to use the MORryde Cushioned 5th Wheel Pin box part # MR84VR that is rated for 5th wheels weighing from 14,000lbs to 18,000lbs.
