Question:
I have a 2026 Subaru Outback Wilderness and are looking at Thule options for the roof rack. I am looking to use the Thule system with 50/127 cm WingBar Evo roof bar 2-pack aluminum TH54ZA Another option is the 53 /135 cm WingBar Evo roof bar 2-pack aluminum TH34FR25JX The question that I have is that the factory rails on the Outback are really thick because they are rated for a 900 static load and if I need to use to older Crossroad Roof Rack Foot instead of the newer Evo Raised Rail foot? Have you guys tested both options to determine which one is best for my Outback. There is also the WingBar Edge 86 cm roof bar 1-pack black TH58SC x2 and the Edge Raised Rail foot for vehicles 4-pack black TH69SC that should fit, but this would create a very narrow platform.

Hey Tom, congrats on the new car. To add a roof rack to your 2026 Subaru Outback Wilderness, I recommend the Thule SquareBar Evo Roof Rack for Raised Rails item # TH34FR25JX. The square crossbars and the wider length is going to work the best out of those options you listed. Includes 53" long square bars, along with four of the Rapid Crossroad feet. These feet are designed to grip the thicker roof rails on the Wilderness models. We haven't tested the older Crossroad Roof Rack Feet on the wider Subaru roof rails to know if they'll work.
Thule lists the SquareBar Evo Roof Rack item # TH34FR25JX as having a 165 lbs dynamic capacity. Thule does not list their static capacities like this. They defer to either the vehicle's static capacity, which is 800 lbs according to Subaru on the new 2026, or three times the roof racks dynamic capacity so 495 lbs for the item # TH34FR25JX. You'll need to go with the 495 lbs limit because it's lower.
The Thule WingBar Edge Crossbar item # TH58SC and the Edge Raised Rail Feet item # TH69SC also only have a 165 lbs dynamic capacity and can not be used with roof top tents due to the flush style mount.
Do you have a tent? If so what kind and how much weight are you planning on putting on your Subaru's roof. We typically only get static capacity concerns with tents, which is why I ask.
