Hello, neighbor, this is Curt with etrailer, and today we're gonna take a look at the INNO Roof Rack on our 2024 Subaru Forester. Now, if you have any experience with INNO Roof Racks, or if you have any questions about them, please leave them in the comments below. We love to use your experiences and your questions in order to help our other neighbors make the best decision for themselves. Now, you may be asking yourself, why would I want a roof rack Well, if you own a Subaru Forester, in all likelihood, you got a bit of an adventurous side to you. You like to get to trips outdoors, go on adventures like that, cycling, hiking, kayaking, all those sorts of type things. And having a roof rack on your vehicle is gonna be a great addition in order to help you take that extra cargo that you may either not be able to fit in the vehicle or may not want to carry in the vehicle.
The other reason, as opposed to say a platform rack, which we know are very popular with Subarus, is that if your Subaru has a moonroof like this one does, the platform's gonna completely cover that. It would be a feature you'd never really get to use. The roof rack, however, we've got all this raised rail here to make adjustments forward and back to set up our roof rack how we want. As a matter of fact, we purposely set this one up as far back as it could go. We put a 26-inch cross spread on it because that is something that is really, really common for those rooftop accessories.
And judging by this, we might be able to get up to a 30-inch spread without ever interfering up here with our moonroof. You may be wondering just what kind of clearance you have between the roof and the bar itself. I can tell you just by looking at it, any rooftop accessories that involve a clamp system, you're gonna have plenty of room to get that around under here. Yeah, we have a little over 3 1/2 inches of space underneath the bar. And toward the back, we have this antenna that might worry us a bit too.
However, we've got plenty of clearance above that antenna, even if, again, we use a clamp system. None of that will interfere with this at all. You can access the track directly from the side like this. All you really need to do is push down on this rubber strip and slide your track mounted accessories through this T-slot. The INNO roof rack has a 165-pound weight capacity.
However, you always wanna double-check your owner's manual to see what the roof weight capacity is on your vehicle. If it's less than what the crossbar weight capacity is, you'll have to stick with the weight capacity for the vehicle. Now that we've taken a look at some of the features and specs and why you might want a roof rack on your Forester, let's take a look at exactly how we got these installed. Now, the first thing that we're going to do when it comes to installation is attach our towers to our crossbar. So this is the underside of the crossbar. You're gonna notice this T-slot right here that is going to be where we slide this through and attach to our crossbar. Now, in order to do this, unlike other crossbars, we're not gonna remove the cap and go in from the side. One of the beauties of this is that we could do all this without removing our end caps. This tab here will go in this space here. The rest of it will go into this space here. And what we're gonna do from there is simply slide it across. There it is, all locked in, good to go. If we ever wanted to take it off, we would be pushing this tab, sliding this all the way over and removing it. So now that we've got it seated on our rails here, these rubber straps are gonna be coming around and going into this loop here. Now, this model has a panoramic moonroof. So what we did was we moved our first bar that we already installed all the way to the back as far as it could go. So we put it right up against this brace here in the back underneath the rail. The next one, when we're aiming for about a 26-inch crossbar spread on this, because that is gonna accommodate most rooftop accessories right there. At that crossbar spread, the other thing that we have in mind is that we wanna see if we can avoid having the crossbars go directly over this roof. Because of how these attach on here by wrapping around like so, we're able to move it as forward and as far back as these rails are going to allow. However, we did wanna see if there was a way to set this up without obstructing that beautiful view you'll get from above. So in order to adjust this, it's gonna have this knob that we can twist. Clockwise to lock or tighten it down, counterclockwise to loosen it up. This not only keeps this part secure or loose, it's also gonna be what tightens down our strap around the rail. So once we get it seated there, we're gonna go ahead and get our measuring tape, make sure we have an equal amount of overhang on each side of the bar before we twist this in place and lock it down. Now that we've got our bars even, and we've got everything tightened down and secure, the last thing we need to do is put on our tower cover. One of the other great things about INNO is that unlike a lot of brands that make crossbars, INNO includes keys and locks for each of our towers. That is actually how this will secure on. So all we need to do is just slip it on in place, lock it on, and it's secure. Now we're ready to load up our crossbars and head out to our next adventure. So if you're looking for a rooftop cargo system that is gonna be very maneuverable and adjustable and be able to accommodate all different sorts of accessories, as well as staying out of the way of a moonroof or anything like that that you might have on the vehicle I think the INNO Roof Rack is a fantastic choice for you. This is Curt at etrailer, thanks for stopping by.
