Why Would Safe-T Plus Steering Stabilizer Seem Like Its Not Working on 2017 Thor Ace 30.14

Published 06/16/2026

Question:

I have a 2017 Thor Ace 30.14 class A motorhome with 9000 miles on it. It currently has a Safe-t-plus steering stabilizer that does not seem to work very well under windy conditions. I dont know what the life span is of this type but there has to be something better than this. Could you recommend a better stabilizer for the wind? Thank you,

Hey Thomas, Safe-T plus states that their stabilizers should last the lifetime of the motorhome with many reporting well over 100,000 miles before needing replacement. If yours doesn't seem like it's doing much I would suspect its either failed somehow (it has a limited lifetime warranty) or the wrong one was installed on the RV. It should be white in color and while our part number is the # ST88MR the Safe-T Plus part number would be 41-180. You might also check to make sure there aren't any issues with any of the mounting brackets. Do you still have stock sway bars on the vehicle?

I believe they are aftermarket. If they were stock would that be an issue?

@ThomasA No it wouldn't be an issue. Normally an aftermarket rear bar is the biggest improvement you can make.
