Question:
Hello, Im trying to understand the differences between the following receivers other than price. Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2 C94WR. Trailer Mate Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2 TMT56FR. etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Matte Black Finish - Class III - 2 e38KR. They seem fairly similar, but ~$50 difference between the cheapest and most expensive. This is for my 2026 Hyundia Tucson SEL. Thanks

Hey Steve, this is a really great question. So the Curt # C94WR and the etrailer part # e38KR are very similar. Only real difference is the finish. The etrailer has a matte finish and the Curt has a gloss finish. Aside from that it's exact same hitch. Most will say the matte finish makes it a little less visible.
Now the Trailer Mate part # TMT56FR is made by a totally different company and while similar overall has fewer brackets and doesn't have a collar around the lip of the hitch opening. It is more of a stripped back version in terms of overall build strength but it was tested and has same towing capacities. It's a solid option but if you want the overall best built hitch I would go with the etrailer or Curt. You planning on doing any towing?

I’m afraid I don’t remember which I bought for my Tuscon, but I can pretty much guarantee it wasn’t the most expensive one! These are all 2” receivers. Mine is a 4” and used for a bike rack. It has been great, though I did buy an extender for the receiver as recommended by etrailer. The connection was a bit further under the car and a bit of a pain to put the bike rack on.
