Get More Utility Out of Your Vehicle

trailer mate hitch installed

You don't need a heavy-duty truck to get out there with your gear. With 3,000 lbs of towing capacity and 300 lbs of tongue weight, this hitch is built for everyday use. It's right at home carrying a cargo tray for a weekend trip, taking bikes out to the trailhead, or even hauling a trailer to the hardware store. The 2" receiver is what most racks, trays, and ball mounts are designed for, so chances are the gear you already have (or the gear you want) will slide right in. You shouldn't have to hunt for an adapter to make your accessory work. And it's Class III, which means it's strong enough for regular use, not just occasional hauling.

Custom Installation

This hitch bolts directly to the frame using included hardware and the tools most folks already have in the garage. There's no need to drill into the vehicle or weld anything in place, and you won't be cutting up the bumper just to make it fit. It's designed for a simple install whether you're putting it on yourself or having a shop handle it. If you'd rather not DIY, we can help you find a local installer using our dealer locator.

Tested and Proven

This hitch meets SAE J684 standards, so it's been tested to handle its rated capacity under real towing conditions. You may not spend time thinking about certifications, but they matter when you're pulling weight. This one covers strength, performance, and structural integrity, so you're working with something that's actually been proven, not just claimed.

by:

Fit like a glove, and was not all that hard to install. 2 strong grandsons did the trick in a little less than an hour.

by:

The product came without any bolts how am I supposed to attach it to the car? I’m on my own to find bolts. I’ve sent an email and try to make a phone call. No response to either.

by:

Great design, neatly tucked in, barely visible, easy installation, prefer the flat finish as it's not as visible and blemds in well with the bumper. Order received in a few days.

by:

The hitch is what I expected. I installed it by myself using a floor jack in under an hour. We saved so much in installation costs.

by:

Looks good, hope everything is there for mounting. Ordering & Shipping super fast and easy. Shipping company meh,no fault of etrailer

by:

service is always good, in shipping box was damaged and the box of bolts and washer were gone. I need another box of the 4 bolts and washers!!

by:

Easy installation, truly very easy. Quality build feel basically no modification. Using for cargo rack not towing.

Very simple to install on our 2026 Kia Sportage Hybrid, I was able to do it in an hour by myself. In addition to removing the rear panel recommended by the instructions, I also un-hung the exhaust (just removed the two rear rubber hangers), and removed the panel closest to the rear passenger wheel (just two body clips), both to get better access to the bolts on the passenger side. I re-hung and put the wheel panel back on after I was done. I found it easiest to start the bolts on the exhaust side first because you have to do a small amount of maneuvering to get the hitch around the exhaust, which is why I ended up un-hanging it temporarily.

  • Recommended Hitch and Wiring for 2026 Kia Sportage Hybrid
Hey Robert! For a hitch I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C94WR. This is a Class 3 hitch with a 2" receiver and a bolt-on installation. The Trailer Mate # TMT56FR you looked at is also made by Curt, and isn't quite as robust. This is geared towards accessories, and since you want wiring as well I'm guessing you plan on towing, so the # C94WR is worth the extra money. Then for wiring you need the Curt Powered Tail Light Converter with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C59236....

  • What is Difference Between etrailer, Curt and Trailer Mate Hitch for 2026 Hyundai Tucson
Hey Steve, this is a really great question. So the Curt # C94WR and the etrailer part # e38KR are very similar. Only real difference is the finish. The etrailer has a matte finish and the Curt has a gloss finish. Aside from that it's exact same hitch. Most will say the matte finish makes it a little less visible. Now the Trailer Mate part # TMT56FR is made by a totally different company and while similar overall has fewer brackets and doesn't have a collar around the lip of the hitch...
