Hey Kenneth, thanks for reaching out. Yes, the Advent Air System # ADV87QR is a great replacement option for your 2006 Rockwood 8317SS. Since it's a complete system, you'll be replacing the rooftop unit, air distribution box, controller, and thermostat together. With a camper of that age, that's actually the best route because the newer Advent components aren't designed to plug directly into the original Dometic control systems. The good news is everything is engineered to work together, so once installed you'll have a fully matched system rather than trying to mix old and new components.
The other reason I like this upgrade is the performance improvement you'll get from a modern AC system. Even if your old unit is still running, a 20-year-old air conditioner simply isn't going to cool as effectively as a brand-new system. The # ADV87QR gives you a more efficient compressor, improved airflow, and better overall cooling performance, which means the camper will pull down to temperature faster and do a better job maintaining it on hot days. For a larger trailer like your 8317SS, that's a pretty noticeable upgrade, especially if you camp in warmer climates or deal with high humidity.
