Does 2026 Ford Maverick Hybrid Need Charge Line Kit

On my 2026 Ford Maverick Hybrid if I am NOT using an auxiliary braking system do I still need a charge line while flat towing?

Hey Robin! Yes, you still need a charge line like the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-156-25. Even without the brake system, there are vehicle systems that remain active and drain the battery on the 2026 Maverick Hybrid.
Also, I do recommend using a supplemental brake system for the sake of safety and to make sure you comply with local laws as you travel.

Probably because if your lights are hooked up to the vehicle you’re towing with it doesn’t take much to run the Maverick’s battery down. It’s inexpensive and easy to install.

If you're towing your Maverick behind your RV I highly recommend an auxiliary breaking system, I believe it is required to have one by law. I installed the Demco Stay and Play on my 2024 Maverick and wired in the charge line kit and it keeps my battery up as we are driving down the road.

You do need to go with an auxiliary brake system. It’s not so much about being able to stop, it’s about having a braking system in the event of a possible “break away “ failure. So yes you need a battery charging kit.

I installed the charge line kit to keep tow’s battery charged. I do have a supplemental braking system and must place the ignition in accessory to keep the steering wheel unlocked. It was an easy install and works like a charm.
