Is There A Trailer Jack That I Can Move Off to The Side Of A Frame Tongue So It Doesn't Scrape Road?
Published 05/14/2026 >
Question:
Does anybody make a trailer jack I can move off to the side? My A-frame jack sits right in the middle of the tongue on my small enclosed trailer, and I’m tired of it scraping when I pull into my driveway. I’d also like to use a drill if possible.

Good morning Mark! For what you’re describing, I’d look at one of the side-mount swivel drill-powered jacks instead of another center A-frame jack. The etrailer Sidewind Trailer Jack - Swivel Bolt - 2K # e35YV is the cleanest fit if you want the jack mounted along the trailer frame instead of dropping straight down through the A-frame coupler.
The big advantage is that it swivels up along the trailer frame when you’re towing, so the foot is not hanging down where it can drag on steep driveways or uneven entrances. It also gives you the drill-powered operation you’re after - the handle folds out of the way, and the included 3/4" socket lets you raise or lower it with a standard non-impact drill.
Fit-wise, this side-mount bracket is made for trailer frames that are 2" to 4" tall, which covers a lot of enclosed, utility, and smaller equipment trailers. The main thing I’d still check is that you have enough straight frame space where you want to mount it and enough room for the jack to rotate up into the stored position. If you can measure your frame height, Mark, I can help confirm whether # e35YV is the right direction.
