Is There A Good Quality Aluminum Jack For Boat Trailer That Has Swivel Jack On Side Of Frame?

Published 05/18/2026

Question:

I was looking at the A-frame drill jack with the SnapPad, but my boat trailer doesn’t have that triangle 3-bolt plate in the middle. It just has a side-mounted swivel jack by the frame. Am I looking at the wrong one?

Hey Brian! Yep, for your boat trailer, I’d skip the etrailer A-frame drill jack # e38AV since your trailer doesn't have that standard 3-bolt A-frame jack mount. That could be fabricated to fit, but that's a lot of unnecessary work.

For a side-mounted boat trailer setup, the better match is the etrailer Sidewind Aluminum Jack with Wheel - Swivel Bolt - 1.5K # e95YV. It bolts to the side of the trailer frame (fits 2" - 4" tall frames), swivels up for travel, and has the wheel you’ll usually want on a boat trailer for moving the tongue around at the ramp or in the garage.

The other big advantage is the aluminum body and stainless steel hardware, which makes more sense around water than a steel A-frame jack. It also includes the 19mm socket so you can run it with a non-impact drill. Brian, is your current jack clamped or bolted to the side of the trailer frame? Some are also welded. If welded, you may need to take a grinder and remove the metal that sticks out from the frame so you can bolt this new one on (not difficult at all).
