Recommended Hitch For Carrying A Bike Rack On A 2025 Acura MDX

Question:
Looking for a bike rack hitch to put on my 2025 Acura mdx. Which do you recommend? We already have a bike rack we used on a sequoia. Are they all the same or theres different hitches for different bike racks

Hi Michel-Antoine!
For your 2025 Acura MDX, I recommend the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Matte Black Finish - Class III - 2" # e27KR.
This is a bolt on application, so it really shouldn't take too long to get installed (we say 30 minutes, but it could take slightly longer). There is no cutting or drilling for the install either, so it really is pretty straightforward. Lower your spare to allow for more room to work, put the hitch up there, and bolt down the 6 bolts. Nothing to it. This also has a matte black finish, so it hides itself better than other hitches that use a glossy finish, so I think they also look more OEM. The last plus with this hitch is it's American made. So I think it's the one to go with.
Since you also said your rack was previously on a Toyota Sequoia, this hitch will work with it. The Sequoia had a 2" hitch and this one does as well. There really isn't much of a difference when you are looking at 2" hitches, but you do want to make sure the bike rack will clear the back of your vehicle. From the center of the pin hole on the receiver to the closest edge of the bumper was 3-1/2" when we installed this on a 25 MDX, so you should be perfectly fine, but it never hurts to double check. Just measure from the pin hole on your rack to the closest part of the rack and you can confirm that.

We installed this rack on a 2024 Honda Pilot. 30 minutes is generous. All in, once you get your parts laid out and someone to hold the rack in place while you bolt on, it only took about 20 min. We use it with a VelociRAX 5 bike rack, works great.

I recently installed the e-trailer hitch referenced here on my 2024 Acura MDX and it work great! Expert comment above described the installation perfectly….there is also an e-trailer video on line that walks you right through it. The only word of caution…there is the ‘hands free tailgate activator’ right there. Ther is absolutely NO room between this module and the hitch once you get it up under and in place. I actually had to ‘compress’ the wiring connection at the module to get the hitch in proper position. Again…no margin there at all, but the e-trailer hitch worked…and, the hands free tailgate activator works!
