Liftgate Sensor Relocation Bracket on 2022 Acura MDX

Question:

I want to install a hitch on a 2022 Acura MDX. Do you have the kick sensor rear hatch relocation kit so I can still open close my rear hatch after the hitch is installed? Thank you

The Acura MDX is the 'sister' vehicle to the Honda Pilot. The MDX and Pilot typically don't have problems with the hitch interfering with the liftgate sensors.

I believe you're thinking about the RDX/Honda CR-V which frequently has an issue with the sensors once a hitch is installed.

Like most vehicles with the liftgate sensors, installing a hitch like the Draw-Tite # DT42MR on the MDX/Pilot may interfere with the sensors at the center of the vehicle under the hitch receiver tube, but if you wave your foot to one side or the other the sensors will pick up the movement and open the liftgate.

The RDX/CR-V on the other hand frequently requires the sensor relocation bracket which is available from the dealer.

I was just in the process of installing a Curt Class 3 hitch on my 2022 Acura MDX and the sensor does indeed interfere. The hitch would not fit with the sensor in place. I removed the sensor and the hitch fit with no clearance issue..
