Will either the Drawtite or Curt hitch interfere with hands free kick to open lift gate function?

We've received conflicting reports regarding whether or not the Curt # C22HR or the Draw-Tite # DT42MR interferes with the hands free liftgate feature of the 2022 Acura MDX.

We've had some state that the hitch partially interferes with the sensors, but if the user waves their foot to the right or left of the receiver tube by about 12 inches and a few inches deeper under the vehicle, in most cases the sensors will read the movement and the rear hatch will open.

If you do find that the hitch completely prevents the hands free feature from working, your Acura dealer offers a sensor relocation kit. The Acura part number for that is 08L91-TYA-200B.

If I had to choose between the Draw-Tite and the Curt hitch, I'd go with the US made Curt # C22HR.

If you'll be towing with the hitch, you'll also need a trailer wiring harness, part # TK59VR, a ball mount like # 2753 and a trailer ball like # 19260 for a 1-7/8 or # 63845 for a 2 inch ball.
