Propane T-Fitting for Coleman 17R With 20 lb Tank and Propane Grill

Question:
I’m wanting to hook up my propane grill to my Coleman 17r. I have a single 20lb tank. If I use the camco 4 port tee or similar what do I do when I’m not using my grill? Do I need a shut off valve for the unused ports or does the screw on cap keep the valve from leaking? Please let me know the best way to hook up my second look line. Thanks Steve

Hi Steve; for your setup I recommend the MB Sturgis Sturgi-Stay T-Fitting # 103613-MBS. I'm assuming your propane grill has its own regulator, most do. The T-fitting will connect to your propane tank and then you can run a hose from the quick disconnect to your grill so it isn't double regulated.
You don't have to worry about doing anything special on the connections that aren't in use to keep them from leaking, but it does have a shut off valve on the QD. This gives you the option to use an auxiliary tank for your Coleman if you need extra propane.

We use two MB Sturgi Stay fittings, one on each of our two 20 pound LPG tanks on our "Los Gatos Casita" travel trailer. We use the Quick Disconnects on the MB Sturgi Stay fittings that have shutoff valves. We use high pressure hose from the MB Sturgi Stay fittings to our various LPG appliances (camp fire pit, stove, etc) that use their own regulators. The advantage of using high pressure directly from the tank is that you are not limited by maximum BTU/H capability of the RV regulator. Using high pressure is also safer as any minor leak will be obvious and any major leak will be stopped by the tank and fitting safety shutoff devices. However, because of these safety shutoff devices, you have to slowly open the MB Sturgi Stay Quick Disconnect valves when initially filling the high pressure hose.
