Quick Disconnect Fitting Diagram

Make camping more fun and relaxing. Moving your 5th-wheel camper or travel trailer once you've gotten settled at the campsite is a real chore. No one wants to have to pack up, unplug, and go refill the propane cylinders, just to come back to the site and set everything up all over again. This Sturgi-Stay T-fitting lets you connect an auxiliary cylinder to your setup using a quick-disconnect fill hose (sold separately). As a result, you can run your appliances off of the propane in the cylinder rather than using up the LP gas from your trailer's setup. When you run out, just refill the auxiliary cylinder and hook it up again.

The disposable cylinder port on the Sturgi-Stay provides a connection point for a small, portable appliance or propane tree. This way you can power a grill, heater, or other accessory without needing to use a 1-lb throwaway cylinder. Simply attach an adapter hose (sold separately) to your appliance and then to the disposable cylinder port on the T-fitting.

Quick Disconnect Port

QDs

The Sturgi-Stay features a quick-disconnect port that connects to the fill hose (sold separately) from your auxiliary cylinder. This quick-disconnect port lets you connect and disconnect a hose without any tools. Simply snap the quick-disconnect hose into the port and it will stay locked in until you release it. To remove the hose, just pull back on the collar of the port. The port also features a gas shut-off lever that allows you to completely cut off the propane supply to that port to keep gas contained when no hose is attached. Be sure to move the lever to the "off" position before disconnecting the hose.

These Sturgi-Stays work well for expanding a RV propane distribution system without being limited to regulator BTU/H limit. We put one on both our RV propane tanks. Details of this RV modification and many others may be found here if interested:

Is exactly what I was looking for.
My
grill has a regulator, so connecting to the quick connect on my trailer does not work. Now I can quick connect without having to modify my grill.

Excellent presales support in answering all of my questions. Products worked as decribed. I use these product to connect my portable grill to the 30 lb LP tank on my 5th wheel, rather than use disposable LP bottles.

Product does exactly what you would expect. Makes propane canister very sturdy. I used for transporting tank on my roof rack for camping. Would strap it down tightly. Worked great. No cracks in plastic and still functioning like new.

by:

Arrived as described. Disappointed to discover that etrailer.com does not carry mounting brackets for their regulators, but I welcomed the opportunity to dust off my diy skills. Note the bailing wire. Super pro! Also, if anyone knows what happens when one uses a vertical regulator horizontally, I'm all ears.

by:

This unit does what it says it will however I think there is room for improvement. To use this system you need three wrenches on hand. A 7/8 for the hose to the gas cylinder, a 1/2" for removing the plug from the fitting and a 7/16 for the hose to the fitting connection. Why not make them both 7/16"? When you remove the hose you need to be very careful not to allow the ends to hit the dirt, why not have little caps on both ends to keep them clean when not in use. Again, it works but engineering wise could use some work for the price. This allowed us to use 20lb cylinders that cost 3.45 per gallon to fill vs 3.65 and moving the rig everytime the big tank got low.

by:

Great product for keeping propane tanks upright. Will probably be purchasing more.

by:

I ordered this to save money on the 1 lb green tanks. Well it worked great for the first 10 months! It leaks around the on and off valves!! So I removed it before we had a bigger issue as this was connected to my propane tank under my Class A Motorhome.

  • Can Quick Disconnects be Installed Before Regulator
Yes, you can install quick disconnects before a regulator by using a tee. The right one will depend on if you have a Type 1 valve (typically on trailer propane tanks) or POL (which is typically on motorhomes). For example, there is the MB Sturgis Sturgi-Stay T-Fitting for Type 1 Valve - Quick Disconnect and Disposable Cylinder Ports # 103613-MBS or the MB Sturgis Sturgi-Stay T-Fitting for POL Valve - 2 Model 250 Quick Disconnect Ports # 103537-MBS. • Dimensions of MB Stugis Sturgi-Stay T-Fitting
Essentially the Tee of the MB Stugis Sturgi-Stay, part # 103615, is 2-3/4 inches by 4-3/4 inches by 5 inches. I'll do my best to explain which measurement is which. Take a look at the picture I attached as well. If something doesn't make sense let me know. End to end of the disposable cylinder connection is 2-3/4 inches End to end of the Type 1 connections is 4-3/4 inches End to end of the Quick Disconnect is 5 inches The Tee by itself is part # 103613-MBS.

  • How to Connect Smoke Hollow 205 Grill with Built-In Regulator to Trailer Propane Quick Disconnect
I do have a way for you to hook your Smoke Hollow 205 Grill to the propane system on your trailer, however you won't be able to remove/replace its built-in regulator since the control knob is built on top of it. There isn't a knob available by itself that could replace this. What you will need to do is keep the regulator on the grill but tee into the propane tank on your trailer before its own regulator. To do this you can use a combination of the MB Sturgis T-Fitting # 103613-MBS and...

  • How To Hook Up a Coleman Road Trip Grill to a Quick Disconnect Port On Trailer
Correct, in order to attach a propane accessory to the quick disconnect port on a trailer that accessory must be unregulated as the quick disconnect ports on trailers are already run through the main propane regulator. If the propane grill has a built-in regulator which most do then you will need to tee into the propane supply before it reaches the regulator with the MB Sturgis Sturgi-Stay T-Fitting part # 103613-MBS. You will be able to connect your Blackstone to your 2020 Grand Design Imagine Travel Trailer but you won't be able to go directly to the quick disconnect like you want. Since the Blackstone has its own regulator and a proprietary connection and you can't regulate the gas twice, you need to tee into your trailer's system before the regulator. We do have the parts you need in order to run your Coleman stove from your trailer's quick disconnect, but you will also need a t-fitting to go with the hose. You certainly can use the disposable 1" cylinder port of the MB Sturgis Sturgi-Stay T-Fitting part # 103613-MBS to plug in your grill. Once you plug the grill in the port will let out propane to supply your grill. It does not have a turn on or off lever like the quick-disconnect hose port on the T-fitting.
