Lightweight Trailer for Hobie Mirage Tandem Island

Question:
Hi, Im looking for a lightweight trailer setup to haul a hobie tandem island. I already have the cradles. The LOA is 18.5 and the cradles need to be spaced about 61 apart ideally. What do you recommend?

Hey Chris! For your Hobie Mirage Tandem Island I recommend the Malone LowBed MicroSport Trailer # MPG464-LB. This has 78" crossbars with a 44" - 63" crossbar spread so it lines up nicely with your 61" cradle spacing. It’s also rated for boats up to 20', so at 18.5' you’re well within that range.
One of the biggest advantages to this trailer is how low it sits to the ground. The lower height makes a big difference when you're loading and unloading, especially if you're handling it solo.
Do you have any trips planned once you get everything set up?

Hi, I've been using the Malone LowBed Microsport trailer to haul my kayak, sailing kayak, and fishing canoe for a couple years now and I love it because of its lower to the ground feature which is easier to lift heavier boats on and off, as well as backing down a launch ramp to trailer launch my fishing canoe, and my sailing kayak which enables me to keep all the rigging on both boats without needing to lift it off the trailer! I also purchased the retractable trailer tongue kit so I can store it vertically in my garage and can keep vehicles in both garage spaces year round. Russ C
