Question:
I found an etrailer youtube showing how to install a redark tow-pro liberty brake controller on a 2023 Toyota Tacoma. Can you tell me if the installation will be the same on my new 2026 Tacoma SR5? Thank you!

Welcome back David, been quite a while! ^___^
Your 2026 Toyota Tacoma SR5 is still the same generation as the 2023 Tacoma we did the install video on, so the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller w/ Universal Wiring Harness - Dash Knob - Proportional # RED52VR will be installed the exact same way IF (and that's a very big IF) your Tacoma came with the OEM brake controller (you will also need the # RED99FR pigtail). That said, you may not have the same blank switch port, so you may need to mount the knob somewhere else. If it is blank, than it will be 100% the same.
Now if you did not have the OEM controller, let me know. It is going to be significantly more difficult and there are a lot of steps and a few extra parts you will need for the install. If you don't want to go through all that, and I wouldn't blame you if you didn't, you could also use the Redarc Tow-Pro Link Bluetooth Brake Controller - Off-Road Mode - 4 Axles - Proportional # RED57AR. This just plugs in behind the 7-Way that came on your Tacoma and you mount the box wherever it's out of the way. You would need to install the app to do the initial setup, but then you can just use the included remote. It is more expensive, but it's very easy to install.
What are you going to be towing?

I installed this brake controller on my 2025 Ford Ranger XLT with no issues. It is working perfectly and I really like how small the control knob is. I tucked it away below the headlight switch. It is easily accessible if needed to assist stopping or controlling wag. So far I have not needed it for either. I pulled 7,100 lbs yesterday and had to set the controller on 4. It probably needed to be on three. On six the trailer brakes were stopping the truck. My youngest son is 6' 2" and his knee bumps the controller knob. If your 6 and over you might need to pick another spot.
